Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The student attempts to report the data for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks regarding sodium, saturated fat, and added sugar. The numbers cited mostly align with the visual data (e.g., 14% sodium and 16% saturated fat for breakfast; 43% sodium for dinner; 42% added sugar for snacks). However, the response fails to meet the core conventions of an Academic Task 1 report. Instead of providing an objective summary with an overview and relevant comparisons, the writing reads like a conversational, informal stream of consciousness filled with subjective commentary, such as 'a heathy breakfast inculde a proper combination of food' and 'now talk about the favourite part of daily life of a foody person'. There is no formal overview comparing the overall trends across the meals. Consequently, the task is addressed only partially, warranting a band 4.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The text lacks standard paragraphing and cohesive structure appropriate for an academic report. Although the student attempts to transition between meals using informal phrases like 'now move to lunch', 'lets discuss about a proper lunch', and 'now talk about the dinner', the overall organization is highly fragmented and conversational. There is a complete lack of standard cohesive devices suitable for data comparison, and the mechanical transitions ('now talk about...', 'lets discuss about...') fail to create a logical progression. Punctuation is largely absent or misused, with run-on phrasing and erratic capitalisation. These issues mean the information and ideas are not arranged coherently, fitting the descriptor for band 4.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is very basic, repetitive, and informal (e.g., 'foody person', 'proper combination', 'basic persentage'). There are numerous severe spelling errors throughout the text, including 'heathy' for healthy, 'inculde' for include, 'belance' / 'belanced' for balanced, 'suger' for sugar, 'persentation' / 'persentage' for percentage, 'sodiun' for sodium, and 'controll' for control. The student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary related to nutrients and percentages, but the high frequency of misspelling and limited lexical range strain the reader and severely limit precision, placing this response at band 4.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical range is extremely limited, consisting almost entirely of simple sentences or poorly joined clauses separated by commas or run together without punctuation. There is a total lack of complex sentence structures used accurately. Furthermore, grammatical accuracy is very poor, featuring constant errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'a heathy breakfast inculde', 'it contain'), missing articles, and missing auxiliary verbs (e.g., 'heres i mention', 'its a controlled diet dinner'). Punctuation is virtually nonexistent, with lowercase letters starting sentences mid-text and stray spacing. These frequent errors distort meaning and make comprehension difficult, corresponding to a band 4.0.
