Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to cover the main features of the three charts showing sodium, saturated fat, and added sugar percentages in meals. However, the data interpretation is patchy and contains inaccuracies. For instance, the student states that for added sugar, lunch, breakfast, and dinner range from 16% to 23%, but fails to accurately specify individual values or clearly report the snack peak of 42% alongside other meals. The overview is weak, consisting of fragmented summary statements rather than a cohesive synthesis of main trends. Because the ideas are underdeveloped and the data reporting lacks precision, this meets the descriptors for Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The text lacks proper paragraphing and is presented as a single, poorly structured block of text interspersed with run-on sentences. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, relying on repetitive conjunctions like 'and' or conversational framing such as 'when i compare to all chart'. There is no clear logical progression guiding the reader through the data, and referencing between sentences is weak. These organizational flaws and the absence of clear paragraph structure place the response firmly at Band 4.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is extremely basic, repetitive, and informal (e.g., 'not good for health', 'more add', 'same ass a more'). There are numerous spelling errors throughout the text, including 'typs', 'breckfast', 'ecqul', 'percatage', 'diffrent', and punctuation is neglected. The range of vocabulary is severely limited and inadequate for discussing statistical data, leading to frequent errors that impede clear communication. This aligns with the descriptors for Band 4.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
Grammatical control is very weak, with a total absence of complex structures and severe errors in simple sentence construction. Many sentences are fragmented or lack essential verbs (e.g., 'the chart show 3 typs of nutrients which is percentage if more so unhealthy'). Punctuation and capitalization are largely ignored. Error frequency is extremely high, and meaning is frequently obscured or distorted due to poor syntax. This corresponds to a Band 4.0 for grammatical range and accuracy.
