Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The student successfully identifies the main features of the charts, presenting accurate data regarding sodium, saturated fat, and added sugar across the four meal times. An overview is provided, noting that dinner dominates for sodium and saturated fat while snacks are highest for added sugar, which satisfies the requirements for an overall trend. Key comparisons are made, such as highlighting that dinner contains the highest proportions of sodium (43%) and saturated fat (37%), whereas snacks peak for added sugar at 42%. Although the phrasing in the introduction is slightly unnatural, the core data points are correctly extracted and reported, fulfilling the criteria for a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is arranged into a short introduction, an overview paragraph, and a body paragraph containing the detailed data. However, the paragraphing is somewhat compressed, and the body paragraph crams all the statistical details together rather than grouping them logically by nutrient or meal type, which affects the overall progression. Cohesive devices are basic and sometimes repetitive (e.g., 'Moreover', 'and in dinner', 'and in lunch'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'that utillize in different meals of USA'. While there is a coherent overall arrangement, the mechanical linking and lack of smooth transitions place this securely in the Band 5.0 to 5.5 range.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms such as 'proportion', 'nutrient', 'inclusion', and 'meals'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'special food items of different kind of nutrients', 'all of that which may have concern about health', and 'least number number of these nutrients that utillize'. Attempts at less common vocabulary lead to awkward expressions rather than natural precision. Spelling is generally acceptable, but lexical control is limited, reflecting the descriptors for Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes impede smooth reading. Examples include 'all of that which may have concern', 'sodium and saturated fat has maximum proportion' (subject-verb agreement error), 'Breakfast has least number number' (repetition and missing article), and 'Breakfast and snack have contain same proportion' (incorrect verb form). Punctuation and spacing issues are also present, such as double spaces and missing commas before numerical data. These persistent errors place the grammar score at Band 5.0.
