Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarize the charts by identifying the main features and making comparisons, such as noting that sodium and saturated fat are mostly found in dinner while added sugars peak in snacks. However, the student includes a concluding paragraph in the final section that introduces personal opinions and extraneous medical advice ('Overconsumption of these nutrients can cause different health diseases like obesity, heart attack etc.'). In Academic Task 1, providing speculative or outside medical background is inappropriate and detracts from the pure reporting of data. Furthermore, some data details lack precision. Therefore, the task response is partially compromised by the inclusion of non-data commentary.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text is divided into paragraphs, but the logical organization is hindered by poor punctuation, missing spaces after commas and periods (e.g., 'Overall,There', 'Firstly,Sodium'), and inappropriate paragraph grouping, such as the final paragraph discussing general health consequences rather than chart data. Cohesive devices are minimal, repetitive, or inaccurately handled. Referencing throughout the text is somewhat basic, resulting in a lack of smooth progression between ideas. Paragraphing fails to properly separate the introductory overview from the body details and the conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for basic communication but contains noticeable spelling errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'counsumption' instead of consumption, 'county of USA' instead of country, 'obtainable' for sourced or provided, and 'garuntees' for guarantees. There are also repeated phrasing patterns ('is mostly found in', 'turns out to be'). While the student attempts less common items like 'overconsumption', the frequency of spelling mistakes and non-standard collocations ('consume with snacks') causes some distraction for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The grammatical range is quite limited. The writing relies primarily on simple or overly repetitive complex structures linked by basic conjunctions. There are frequent punctuation errors, notably missing spaces following punctuation marks, run-on structures, and missing capitalization at the start of sentences. Errors such as 'sodium in mostly found' (instead of is) and 'adequate consmption of suchh nutrients' demonstrate a lack of proofreading and control over basic sentence construction, though meaning remains generally retrievable.
