Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The student successfully covers all parts of the task by reporting the main features of the charts and making relevant comparisons. An overview is presented, highlighting that dinner accounts for the highest shares of sodium and saturated fat, while snacks dominate for added sugar. Key data points are accurately cited, such as 43% for sodium at dinner and 42% for added sugar in snacks. However, there are minor typos in data reporting (e.g., 'where Saturated fat was 37%') and the summary could be slightly more polished. Overall, the content is accurate and well-selected, fulfilling the requirements for Band 6.5 to 7.0. Given the clear reporting of trends and data, a score of 6.5 is appropriate.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response is arranged logically into four paragraphs: an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs detailing specific nutrients. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Overall', 'Likewise', and 'Meanwhile', although some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas clearly. Referencing is mostly clear, though some phrasing like 'both these nutrients were found nearly similar' is slightly clumsy. The overall arrangement is coherent, leading to a solid Band 6.5.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'proportion', 'subsidiary', and 'balanced diet'. However, there are several spelling and word-choice errors, including 'Soduim' (repeatedly misspelled), 'withinin', 'consider' instead of 'considered', 'few proportion', and 'conatined'. While these errors do not impede communication, they restrict the lexical score to a Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'Added sugar was mostly found in the snack with share of 42%.' and 'Breakfast seem to be balance diet...'. There are several grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Breakfast seem') and missing articles ('a balance diet', 'with share'). However, the errors rarely impede communication and the meaning remains clear. This performance aligns with Band 6.0.
