Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response falls severely short of the word count requirement, containing only 85 words against the 150-word minimum. This results in a heavy penalty for Task Achievement. Furthermore, the response fails to adequately summarise the main features or make meaningful comparisons across the three charts provided. While it attempts to introduce the topic and mentions breakfast values briefly, it trails off incomplete and does not cover lunch, dinner, or snacks for sodium and saturated fat, nor does it present a coherent overview of the data as a whole. Consequently, the task is only partially and minimally addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The text demonstrates some basic organisational structure, attempting an introductory sentence followed by an overview and a body paragraph. However, logical progression is severely disrupted by the incomplete nature of the response and abrupt ending. Cohesive devices are minimal and sometimes awkward, such as starting a sentence with 'Firstly breakfast'. Paragraphing is attempted but lacks development due to the limited text length. Referencing and connections between ideas are frequently unclear, making the overall flow disjointed.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is very limited and basic, with numerous word-choice and collocation errors. Examples include 'overdosage' instead of excessive intake, 'upsad health' (upset health), 'consume on lager quantity' (consumed in larger quantities), and 'dailybase meals'. The student attempts some less common terms like 'nutrients' and 'fluctuates', but these are undermined by severe spelling and morphological errors ('suager', 'flactuates'). These lexical inaccuracies occasionally cause difficulty for the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The grammatical range is extremely limited, relying mostly on simple or faulty complex structures. There are persistent and frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'may leads to' (subject-verb agreement error), 'if consume on lager quantity' (missing subject and incorrect passive/active voice), and 'which is contained balance ratio'. Punctuation is also problematic, with sentence fragments such as 'which contain similar percentage...' appearing frequently. These errors heavily impede communication and demonstrate weak control over basic syntactic rules.
