Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, standing at only 88 words. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed, leading to under-developed ideas and an incomplete summary of the chart. While the student attempts to report some figures, such as the 43% for sodium at dinner and 42% for added sugar in snacks, key comparisons and an exhaustive overview are missing. To improve, the writer must ensure they write at least 150 words and provide a more comprehensive overview covering all three nutrients across the given categories.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a basic attempt at logical organization by using an introductory sentence followed by a rudimentary overview and body sentences. However, the paragraphing is underdeveloped, and cohesive devices are either missing or misused (e.g., erratic capitalization after commas like 'Overall,The' and 'However , The'). Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall progression lacks the cohesion required for higher bands. To improve, the student should use proper paragraph breaks, eliminate intrusive punctuation errors, and employ standard transition markers to link ideas smoothly.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is very limited and contains noticeable spelling and word choice errors. For example, 'propation' and 'propotion' are misspelled variants of 'proportion', 'breakfest' is misspelled, and 'tiffen time' is an inappropriate colloquialism used for a meal time. While the student attempts some topic-related vocabulary like 'sodium', 'saturated fats', and 'added sugars', the lexical range is narrow and insufficient to achieve a higher score. Incorporating a wider variety of precise, academic vocabulary is essential.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex formulations are frequently faulty (e.g., 'consume sodium in dinner is high, whereas, Added sugar in dinner is the least' and 'Sodium,The propotion of 43% consume sodium in dinner'). Punctuation and capitalization errors are widespread throughout the text (e.g., spaces before commas, missing spaces after punctuation). These frequent grammatical errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a limited command of sentence structure.
