Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response attempts to summarise the charts regarding sodium, saturated fats, and added sugars in the USA, providing a basic overview. However, it fails to meet the minimum word count of 150 words, stopping abruptly at 122 words with an incomplete sentence ending in "reciev". Furthermore, while some major trends are noted (such as dinner accounting for the largest share of sodium and saturated fat), the details are occasionally muddled, such as the claim that "dinner represented 43 percent of total nutrients" instead of sodium specifically, and data points like lunch percentages are left incomplete ("at percent"). Due to the under-length penalty and incomplete data reporting, the task is only partially addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The text attempts a logical structure by starting with an introductory overview followed by body sentences detailing specific proportions. However, the progression breaks down severely towards the end, culminating in an unfinished sentence and a lack of proper paragraphing. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or incorrectly, such as the abrupt transitional phrase "While, lunch also relatively had the smallest ratio" and repetitive sentence openings. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall arrangement becomes disjointed as the text trails off.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate basic vocabulary to discuss proportions, trends, and nutrients, employing terms such as "proportion," "ratio," "nutrients," and "consumed." However, there are numerous lexical and typographical errors throughout the text, including misspelled words like "garph" instead of graph, "percenct" instead of percent, and spacing errors around punctuation marks. Attempts to use less common vocabulary are limited and frequently marred by unnatural collocations or inaccurate word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple or poorly constructed complex sentences. There are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors, such as missing articles, incorrect capitalization (e.g., "DInner"), inappropriate comma placements before conjunctions, and unfinished sentence structures at the conclusion of the response. These errors occasionally cause confusion for the reader, although the general topic remains discernable.
