Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response attempts to address the visual data by outlining some of the main features, such as sodium consumption peaking at dinner and sugar being highest in snacks. However, the report is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence at the end of the text. Furthermore, the length requirement of 150 words is not met, as the response contains only 127 words. Key features are partially reported, but comparisons are limited and basic, leading to an under-developed response. To improve, you must ensure all parts of the chart are fully covered, make more direct comparisons between the three nutrients, and write at least the minimum word count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic attempt to structure the response, featuring an introductory sentence and some transitional phrases such as 'Overall', 'At first glance', and 'In addition'. However, the overall progression is disrupted by the abrupt end of the text, leaving the final paragraph incomplete. Paragraphing is attempted, but the physical layout and organization feel disjointed. Cohesive devices are used mechanically rather than flexibly, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as shifting abruptly between percentages and nutrients without smooth transitions. To reach a higher band, ensure your text is complete, structure your body paragraphs logically around clear themes, and use a wider variety of cohesive devices naturally.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey basic data points. However, there are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as 'intaked' instead of 'consumed', 'typicals meals' instead of 'typical meals', and 'most popularity' instead of 'most popular'. Phrasings like 'fat was intaking' demonstrate issues with word form and collocation. While you attempt some topic-specific vocabulary related to nutrition, these inaccuracies restrict your score. To improve, focus on using correct word forms, accurate collocations for describing statistics, and proofread your writing to eliminate basic word-choice slips.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Your sentences show a mix of simple structures alongside attempts at more complex forms. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, with frequent errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Examples include preposition and article errors, such as 'in dinner of the total' and 'consumed in dinner', as well as awkward passive constructions like 'more than doubled consumed'. Punctuation and subject-verb agreement also need attention, such as 'sugar saw most popularity'. To improve, practice forming accurate passive and active voice structures, pay close attention to prepositions when discussing data, and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical errors.
