Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response successfully covers all parts of the task by reporting the main features and making relevant comparisons across the three nutrients and four meal types. The overview effectively captures the highest consumption points, noting that dinner dominates for sodium and saturated fat, whereas snacks account for the highest proportion of added sugar. However, some parts of the response are slightly under-developed or less precise; for example, the writer misinterprets the data slightly by phrasing it as 'highest number of people' rather than proportions of nutrients. The key data points such as 43% for sodium at dinner and 42% for snacks in added sugar are correctly cited and supported, demonstrating a solid grasp of the visual information while showing the beginnings of a higher band through clear comparative highlights.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear division into paragraphs that group the information logically. Introduction, overview, and body paragraphs follow a sensible structure, fulfilling the requirements for a clear logical flow. Cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'To begin with', and 'Furthermore' are employed to guide the reader through the data, although some transitional elements are a bit mechanical or repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, though occasional lapses in pronoun use mean the progression between sentences could be smoother. The formatting of paragraphs is appropriate, meeting the criteria for a well-organized report that presents data clearly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate the core information, but it contains noticeable lexical errors and spelling mistakes that prevent it from reaching a higher band. There are several spelling errors, such as 'averge' for average, 'saturted' for saturated, 'coonsumed' for consumed, and 'percentge' for percentage. Furthermore, word choice is sometimes imprecise, as seen in expressions like 'highest number of consumption' and 'popular coonsumed item', which do not fully fit standard collocations. While the student attempts less common vocabulary, the recurrent errors in word form and spelling mean the lexical range remains limited and appropriate only for the lower intermediate level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, successfully using structures like 'it can be seen that' and relative clauses. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as article omissions ('breakfast had the least'), preposition misuse, and minor capitalization oversights ('breakfast had the least'). However, these errors are relatively infrequent and rarely impede communication; the majority of simpler sentences are error-free, and complex structures are attempted with varying degrees of success. Punctuation is generally functional, though commas are occasionally missing around introductory phrases, placing the performance comfortably within the expected band.
