Student answer (Band 5.0)

The given pie charts demonstrates the avarage proportion in normal meals of three of nutrients which can be harmful for health if eaten too much

Overall, it can be seen that most of the nutrients came from dinner and the second highest one is from snacks. Breakfast remains almost same in terms of these three nutrients.

Sodium mostly came from dinner and luch with approximately more than a half proportio and the rest of cam from snaks and breakfast. In case of saturated fat the 4 proportion have appox similar percentages except dinner. As always dinner have around 37 percent of saturated fat.

When it's about added suger almost a half came from snacks which is the second highest proportion after dinner in sodium pie chart. It can be seen that the amount of staturated fat and added suger came from breakfast remains constant with 16 percent of proportion. Whereas lunch is the lowest among first two chart.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially. While you attempted to select and report the main features of the charts, the information presented is sometimes inaccurate or poorly summarized. For instance, stating that 'Breakfast remains almost same in terms of these three nutrients' overlooks significant variations, such as the high level of added sugar in snacks compared to breakfast. Furthermore, your overview is overly simplistic, and some comparisons are vague, such as 'approximately more than a half proportion' for sodium. To achieve a higher score, you need to provide a clearer overview of the main trends and select key data points more accurately to support your comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organization with an introductory paragraph, an overview, and body paragraphs, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used minimally and sometimes inaccurately, such as 'As always dinner have around 37 percent' and 'When it's about added suger'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the grouping of information lacks logical flow, moving somewhat randomly between nutrients and meals without a structured comparative framework. Referencing is also occasionally unclear. To improve, you should use a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally and ensure that your sentences and paragraphs progress in a clear, logical sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your lexical range is limited and minimally adequate for the task. There are several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that cause difficulty for the reader, such as 'avarage' instead of average, 'luch' instead of lunch, 'snaks' instead of snacks, 'proportio' instead of proportion, and 'suger' instead of sugar. You also rely heavily on basic vocabulary and repetitive phrasing, such as 'proportion' and 'percentage'. To move to a higher band, you must improve your spelling and demonstrate a wider, more flexible range of vocabulary, using precise terminology to describe statistical data without recurring errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You display a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent errors that can cause difficulty for the reader. There are persistent mistakes in verb forms and subject-verb agreement, such as 'The given pie charts demonstrates' and 'dinner have'. Additionally, articles and prepositions are frequently misused or omitted, as seen in 'from snack and breakfast' and 'in first two chart'. Punctuation is also weak, particularly the lack of commas after introductory phrases. To achieve a higher score, you need to use a wider mix of complex sentence forms with better grammatical control and accuracy.
