Student answer (Band 5.0)

These charts shows the quantity of three different categories of nutrients which are sodium, saturated fat and added sugar in typical meals consumed in the United States of America. All these nutrients are not suitable for human being in consumed in large quantity.

The major quantity which people usually take in their dinner are sodium and saturated fat which is highly taken as thr nutrients but sugar is not taken as a bulk in as compared to the other two nutrients. However a lot of sugar is consumed in snaks which is the major portion of the whole diet but the saturated fat and sodium is not eaten too much in snaks as compared to the sugar and specifically sodium is eaten in a very low quantity in USA in snaks. The only one nutrient which is eaten by everyone in a same quantity in superpower country is breakfast in which all the three nutrients are consumed equally. Futhermore, In lunch sodium and saturated fat are those minirals which are eaten almost equally but not in same percentage and sugar is not eaten as much as the other two nutrients.

All these nutrients are unhealthy if eaten too much and the charts shows that the people of USA consumed a lot of unhealthy nutrients specially sodium in thier dinner.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the three nutrients and make relevant comparisons, including that sodium and saturated fat peak at dinner while added sugar is highest in snacks. However, the report only partly fulfils the task because it gives few accurate figures and some comparisons are misleading. For example, breakfast is described as having all three nutrients “equally,” although sodium is 14% and the other two are 16%. The claim that sodium is consumed in a “very low quantity” in snacks also overlooks that its 14% share equals breakfast. Your final statement that Americans consume “a lot” of unhealthy nutrients is a broad conclusion rather than a clear summary of the chart. Select the main highs and lows, report their percentages, and avoid unsupported claims about people’s overall diets.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic sequence: it introduces the charts, compares meal types, and ends with a general comment. Some linking words, such as “However” and “Furthermore,” show an attempt to connect ideas. Nevertheless, the main comparison is packed into one long paragraph, so the reader has to work to follow shifts between dinner, snacks, breakfast, and lunch. Several connections are also unclear, particularly “The only one nutrient which is eaten by everyone in a same quantity in superpower country is breakfast,” where the relationship between nutrient and meal is confused. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and key comparisons, and group information by the most important patterns rather than moving repeatedly between meals.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “sodium,” “saturated fat,” “added sugar,” “percentage,” and “consumed,” so the subject is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. For instance, “major quantity” and “taken as the nutrients” do not clearly describe proportions, while “snaks” and “minirals” are misspelled; sodium and fats are not minerals. Repetition of “eaten,” “taken,” and “quantity” also limits precision. Practise chart language such as “accounted for,” “share,” “proportion,” “highest,” and “lowest,” and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt longer sentences and use subordinate clauses, for example, “All these nutrients are unhealthy if eaten too much,” but control is inconsistent. The opening has subject–verb disagreement (“These charts shows”), and the sentence “All these nutrients are not suitable for human being in consumed in large quantity” contains faulty structure and article/plural errors. Other examples include “which is highly taken” and “the charts shows,” where agreement and sentence construction are inaccurate. These recurring errors sometimes obscure the intended comparison. Build accuracy first with clear subject–verb patterns, such as “The charts show…” and “The proportion of sodium is highest at dinner,” then add complex clauses only when their structure is secure.
