Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You identify the main contrasts accurately: dinner has the largest shares of sodium and saturated fat, while snacks lead in added sugar. The overview is relevant, and the body supports it with key figures, including 43% and 37% for dinner and 42% for snack sugar. You also compare breakfast and lunch across the nutrients, so the response addresses the chart rather than merely listing isolated values. To make the account more fully developed, report the remaining useful comparisons more systematically—for example, breakfast is the lowest meal for saturated fat, while lunch is second for sodium and saturated fat. A few statements are repetitive, but the main features are selected and supported clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a brief overview and two detail paragraphs. The main comparisons are generally easy to follow, and words such as “Overall,” “While” and “after” help signal relationships. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or unclear. The overview begins “Overall, dinner meal account…” and then uses a sentence fragment beginning “While”; similar fragments occur later with “While it contain…”. The final paragraph moves between breakfast and lunch without a clear grouping principle, and “it” in the breakfast sentence is not fully clear. Grouping the figures by nutrient or by meal, and linking complete sentences with more precise references, would make the progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough chart-related vocabulary to communicate the main information, including “percentage,” “portion,” “accounts” and “highest.” However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or repetitive, which keeps the description from sounding precise. “Sanck” is a spelling error, and “dinner meal” and “breakfast meal” are repeated where “dinner” and “breakfast” would be more natural. “Sodium and saturated” is also imprecise because the chart refers to sodium and saturated fat. Aim for accurate collocations and vary the language used to describe proportions, while keeping the wording straightforward. These improvements would make the comparisons clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts some complex sentence forms, but control is uneven and errors occur in basic sentence patterns as well. For example, “dinner meal account” needs subject–verb agreement, while “snack contain” and “Dinner meal contain” have the same problem. The clauses beginning “While snack contain…” and “While it contain…” are fragments rather than complete sentences. There are also missing or incorrect articles and punctuation, as in “at around 43% and 37% respectively.Sanck,” where a space is needed after the full stop. These errors sometimes interrupt the flow, although the intended comparisons remain understandable. Practise complete clauses, agreement, and sentence boundaries before adding more complex structures.
