Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify several relevant features, including dinner as the largest source of sodium (43%) and snacks as the largest source of added sugar (42%). However, the overview is inaccurate: it says the maximum proportions of sugar and fat occur at breakfast, whereas fat is highest at dinner (37%) and sugar at snacks. The claim that breakfast has the minimum sodium is also incomplete, since breakfast and snacks are tied at 14%. Some comparisons are unclear or repeated, and the response does not adequately summarise all three nutrients. It is also five words below the required minimum. To improve, give a precise overview of the main contrasts, report the key figures accurately, and develop the comparisons between meal types.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure, with an introduction, an overview and two detail paragraphs, so the reader can recognise an attempt to organise the information. However, progression within the paragraphs is weak: the discussion moves from sodium to fat and sugar without a consistent comparison, and the final paragraph repeats that sugar is highest in snacks. Linking words such as “In contrast” and “Moving further” are used, but they do not always show a clear relationship between the points that follow. Some references, including “both pie charts,” are confusing because the task presents three nutrient charts. Group the information by clear comparisons—for example, dinner’s high sodium and fat versus snacks’ high sugar—and avoid repeating the same feature.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “percentage,” “maximum” and “minimum,” which helps communicate the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, making parts difficult to interpret. For example, “negligible difference” does not clearly describe the equal 14% figures for sodium at breakfast and snacks, while “preference of proportation” is not a natural way to describe chart data. There are also noticeable spelling errors such as “inform atin,” “suagr” and “percntile.” Aim for precise reporting language and check spelling carefully. Useful alternatives include “share,” “accounted for,” and “was highest/lowest,” used with the correct nutrient and meal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a few different sentence patterns, including an overview and sentences beginning with “After analyzing” and “Moving further.” However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and several sentences are incomplete or lack the structure needed to express a full comparison. For instance, “Overall, the maximum proportion of suagr and fat in breakfast” has no main verb, and “The incearsing fat in dinner was 37%” is not a well-formed sentence. There are also agreement and article problems in “the given pie charts illustrates.” Use complete subject–verb sentences, such as “Dinner accounts for 43% of sodium,” and check that each sentence has a clear subject and verb. More accurate simple structures would improve clarity before you attempt longer ones.
