Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify several important features, including dinner as the largest source of sodium (43%) and saturated fat (37%), and snacks as the largest source of added sugar (42%). However, the report covers the charts only partially: it gives few comparisons across all four meals and omits key figures such as lunch saturated fat (26%) and dinner added sugar (23%). The statement that sodium and saturated fat are consumed most at dinner is accurate, but the overview is brief and does not clearly summarise the contrasting pattern for added sugar. The response is also 10 words below the required minimum. To develop the report, include a fuller overview and select a few more figures to support comparisons between meals and nutrients.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic sequence, moving from dinner and lunch to breakfast before ending with an overview, so the reader can follow its general direction. Paragraphing is attempted, and phrases such as “Turning to breakfast” and “Moreover” signal transitions. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the opening paragraph is followed by a series of isolated observations, and the final overview repeats points already mentioned rather than drawing the comparisons together. Some linking is mechanical or awkward, particularly “First of all, talking about dinner meals” and “Considering, lunch.” Organise the report into a clear introduction, overview, and detail paragraphs, grouping information by meal or by nutrient, and use transitions that accurately show how each point relates to the previous one.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of vocabulary, including “detrimental effects,” “ingested,” “encapsulated,” and “at the peak,” and the main topic remains understandable. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing chart data. “Three variance types of nutrients” is unclear, “citizens of USA usually intakes” does not express the chart’s average percentages naturally, and “consumed in the time of snacks” is an awkward phrase. “Huge amount” is also repeated and overstates what the figures show. Use precise, conventional language for reporting proportions, such as “accounted for,” “the highest proportion,” and “was similar to.” This would make the vocabulary more accurate and help the reader interpret the comparisons without having to infer your meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts some longer structures, for example the opening conditional clause and the sentence beginning “Considering, lunch,” but control is inconsistent. Errors occur in basic sentence formation and agreement: “The given three pie charts illustrates” should use a plural verb, while “citizens of USA usually intakes” has a subject–verb mismatch. The sentence “if taken in huge amount it can cause” also has an unclear reference and needs more accurate article and clause structure. Punctuation is sometimes misplaced, as in “First of all ,talking” and “Considering, lunch.” These problems make parts of the report difficult to read, although the main comparisons can generally be understood. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add controlled complex clauses and check agreement, articles, and punctuation.
