Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main pattern accurately: dinner has the largest shares of sodium and saturated fat, while snacks lead in added sugar. You also include several relevant figures, such as sodium at 43% for dinner and added sugar at 42% for snacks. This gives the report a clear overview and covers the chart’s main comparisons. However, some details are incomplete or imprecise: the saturated-fat figures for lunch and snacks are not reported, and “dinner is 20% less compare to sodium” does not clearly state that dinner’s added-sugar share is 23%, compared with 43% for sodium. The comparison that snacks have “three times” the sodium and “two times” the saturated fat is also unclear. More precise reporting would make the coverage fuller.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction and overview to separate discussion of sodium and added sugar. This makes the main message easy to locate, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Similarly,” and “According to” show an attempt to guide the reader. Some connections, however, are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Regarding sodium, dinner represent the largest proportion, at 43%, regarding lunch at 29%” repeats “regarding” without forming a clear comparison. The saturated-fat information is also placed in the sodium paragraph, which weakens the grouping of related data, and the final comparison is difficult to follow. Organise the body by nutrient or by meal, and use clearer comparison links to improve progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use a reasonable range of chart-reporting vocabulary, including “average proportion,” “accounts for,” “largest proportion,” and “consumption.” These choices are relevant and generally allow the reader to understand the data. Some word combinations and forms are inaccurate or awkward, however: “accounts in proportion of highest amount,” “main source,” and “slightly higher percentage … compare to sodium” do not express the intended comparisons naturally. “Three times higher than sodium” is also imprecise because it compares a meal’s sugar share with a nutrient rather than with a stated percentage. Aim for accurate collocations such as “accounts for the largest share” and “compared with,” and name the relevant meal and nutrient explicitly when making comparisons.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the overview contrast beginning “while” and the sentence starting “Although.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity. Examples include subject–verb agreement in “dinner represent,” the missing verb in “dinner … is responsible highest percentage,” and the incomplete construction “Although, snack and breakfast has slightly higher percentage.” There are also problems with articles, plurals and punctuation, as in “snack are” and the extra space before the comma after “consumption.” Build complete clauses and check agreement and sentence boundaries; for example, “Dinner represents the largest share” is a clear, accurate pattern you can reuse.
