Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify several relevant patterns, including dinner as the highest meal for sodium and saturated fat and snacks as the peak for added sugar. However, the report is only a partial summary: it omits the exact dinner figures and does not clearly compare all three nutrients across the meals. The claim that added sugar at snack time is “half of 100 percent” is inaccurate; the chart gives 42%. The conclusion that these nutrients are “highly used” and harmful adds a general judgement rather than summarising the data. The response also falls 16 words short of the required minimum. To strengthen the report, give a clear overview and support it with accurate key figures, especially the contrasting dinner and snack patterns.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some organisation: the response moves from a brief introduction to meal-by-meal details and ends with a concluding sentence. Linking expressions such as “However,” “Moreover,” and “In addition” show an attempt to connect ideas. Nevertheless, the progression is not consistently clear, and the information is compressed into one paragraph, making comparisons difficult to follow. For example, the lunch sentence combines sodium, saturated fat, and added sugar without clearly stating each figure or comparison. The final sentence repeats the idea that the nutrients are unhealthy rather than drawing together the main chart patterns. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and supporting comparisons, and group related figures more systematically.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some task-related vocabulary, including “consumption,” “nutrients,” “peaked,” and “respectively,” so the reader can generally understand the topic. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural. “Unhygienic” does not mean unhealthy, while “percentage count” and “usage” are not suitable descriptions of the chart data. Phrases such as “half of 100 percent” also express the snack figure incorrectly. Repetition of “amount,” “used,” and “consumption” limits precision. Choose standard chart language such as “accounted for,” “proportion,” and “highest share,” and use the exact percentage when describing a peak.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a contrast introduced by “However” and a concluding sentence beginning “To sum.” However, the range remains limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some relationships unclear. For example, “The highest amount of sodium and saturated fat consumed by the people of US in dinner” is not a complete grammatical sentence and lacks a clear verb. In “added sugar and saturated fat is 16%,” the plural subject does not agree with “is.” Several sentences also run together, as in “14%.However in lunch,” and punctuation spacing is inconsistent. Practise complete subject–verb sentences, agreement, and sentence boundaries before adding more complex clauses.
