Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main contrast accurately: dinner accounts for the largest shares of sodium and saturated fat, while snacks lead for added sugar. You also report several correct figures, including sodium at 43% for dinner and 14% for breakfast and snacks, and added sugar at 42% for snacks. This gives the response a clear overview and relevant comparisons. Some details, however, are unclear or imprecise: lunch’s sodium share is 29%, not “one third,” and the claim that breakfast has the lowest proportion across all three charts overlooks that breakfast and snacks are equal for sodium. The comparison of lunch figures is also difficult to follow. More precise reporting and clearer selection of key comparisons would strengthen an otherwise relevant summary.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs of detail. Linking expressions such as “overall,” “moreover,” and “furthermore” help signal movement between points. However, progression within the detail paragraphs is difficult to follow because several comparisons are packed into long sentences, especially the sentence beginning “Moreover in deep analysis.” Some links are also mechanical or unclear, such as “while” and “meanwhile” being repeated without making the relationship between figures easier to understand. Group the information by nutrient or by the largest and smallest meal shares, and use shorter sentences with clear references to each chart.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “proportion,” “major portion,” “intake,” and “contribution,” and you attempt to describe comparisons rather than simply list figures. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning less natural, such as “major part is taken by snacks” and “shares equal portion.” There are also spelling errors, including “dialy,” “diner,” “snaks,” and “ninteen,” which reduce precision. Use standard chart language consistently—for example, “accounted for,” “represented,” and “the highest share”—and check spelling carefully. This would make the comparisons clearer and more appropriate to an academic report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to combine ideas using subordinate clauses and contrast markers, but control is uneven, and many sentences contain errors that make relationships difficult to interpret. For example, “pie charts shows” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “breakfast have the lower proportion” has an incorrect verb form and article. In “the major contribution … is in dinner have 43% portion,” the sentence structure does not clearly connect the subject and figure. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly around sentence boundaries. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses. Check agreement, articles, and verb forms, and use full stops to separate distinct comparisons.
