Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You report the main figures accurately, including sodium’s peak at dinner (43%), saturated fat’s peak at dinner (37%), and added sugar’s peak in snacks (42%). The response also covers all three nutrients and gives an overview, so the key patterns are identifiable. However, the overview is not fully clear: “sodium and saturated fat utilized more in dinner” is awkward and does not explicitly contrast these with sugar’s snack peak. Some comparisons are listed rather than interpreted, and the final point about sugar at dinner is less developed. The response is also 142 words, below the 150-word minimum; the eight words copied from the prompt are not counted. A clearer overview and a little more comparison would make the summary more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for sodium and saturated fat, then sugar. This makes the information broadly easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “In addition,” and “Furthermore.” However, these connectors are sometimes mechanical or incorrectly punctuated, as in “While, the consumption…” and “Although, lunch and dinner…”. The overview’s ideas are compressed together, and the transition from the general pattern to individual figures could be smoother. Grouping the nutrients by their meal patterns—for example, dinner peaks versus the snack peak—would create clearer progression and reduce the list-like effect.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “sodium,” “saturated fat,” “consumption,” and “portion,” and the reader can generally understand which nutrient and meal each figure refers to. However, the range and control of collocations are limited. Phrases such as “sodium … utilized,” “sugar utilized,” and “night meal” are unnatural for describing chart data; “accounted for” or “was consumed at dinner” would be more suitable. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “Futhermore,” “addtion,” and “utlizied,” alongside inconsistent word forms. Aim for precise reporting verbs and check spelling carefully; this will make the description more fluent and less effortful to read.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with linking clauses, and most figures remain understandable despite some grammatical errors. However, control is inconsistent, particularly in sentence boundaries, articles, and verb patterns. For example, “if it obtain more than enough it will be dangerous” has an unclear subject and incorrect verb form, while “breakfast only contained 16% the consumption of sugar in lunch…” joins several ideas without a clear grammatical structure. Missing spaces after commas and full stops also affect punctuation. Practise building accurate sentences around a clear subject and verb, such as “Dinner accounted for 43% of sodium intake,” and use full stops to separate comparisons when a sentence becomes difficult to control.
