Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several important patterns, including dinner as the largest source of sodium and saturated fat, and snacks as the largest source of added sugar. You also report many figures accurately, such as sodium at 43% for dinner and 29% for lunch. However, the overview is unclear: it says dinner and snacks are the leading meals “respectively,” then adds that dinner leads for sodium and saturated fat without clearly distinguishing the pattern. There are also factual inaccuracies: snacks contain 42% of added sugar, not 43%, and saturated fat in snacks (21%) and breakfast (16%) is not equal to dinner’s 37%. The comparison of lunch’s sugar share with other nutrients is also unclear. Select the main contrasts and state them precisely in the overview.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for sodium, saturated fat and sugar. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly” and “Finally” help readers follow the nutrient-by-nutrient organisation. However, progression within sentences is often difficult to follow, and some linking words do not express the intended relationship clearly. For example, “Overall, In all the kind of nutrients…” is hard to interpret, while “Although” begins clauses that are not completed or contrasted effectively. The repeated “additionally” and “While” also make the connections feel mechanical. Use a concise overview, then group comparisons logically, and ensure each connector links complete, clearly related ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “contribute,” “source,” “contains” and “percentage,” and you attempt to describe proportions with phrases such as “almost half” and “almost quarter.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning difficult to understand. Phrases such as “the four most common unhealthy meals percentages” and “the meal which has major higher contributions” are not natural ways to describe chart data. Spelling errors are also frequent, including “nuterients,” “snaks,” “sadium” and “suger.” Build a reliable set of terms for proportions and comparisons, and check spelling carefully; for example, use “accounts for” or “makes up” rather than “contains” when reporting a percentage.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “Although” and “While,” but these structures are often incomplete or inaccurately formed. For instance, “Although the lunch also contain sufficient amount of sodium” is a dependent clause without a clear main clause, and “the meal which has major higher contributions are dinner” has problems with agreement and sentence structure. Articles and plural forms are also inconsistent, as in “the four most common… meals” and “other two meal.” Capitalisation and punctuation, including the capital “In” after “Overall,” further affect accuracy. These recurring errors can make relationships between ideas unclear. Practise complete sentence patterns and check subject–verb agreement, articles and clause boundaries.
