Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You identify the main contrasts accurately: dinner has the highest shares of sodium and saturated fat, while snacks lead in added sugar. The overview also notes breakfast’s low contribution, and the body includes relevant figures for all three nutrients. This gives the report a clear, well-supported response to the chart. However, there are factual slips in the detail: saturated fat is 37% at dinner and 26% at lunch, but you reverse these when writing “lunch at 37% and 26% respectively.” For added sugar, lunch is 19% and breakfast 16%, whereas these figures are reversed in your final sentence. Check each figure against the chart before drafting; accurate comparisons would make an already clear account more precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response is organised into an introduction, a clear overview and body paragraphs grouped by nutrient, so the reader can follow the comparisons. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Like sodium” and “In contrast” help signal the relationships between points. This coherent structure is a strength. To make progression smoother and more controlled, avoid awkward or unclear connections such as “while almost half of its quantiy contributes by the dinner,” where the relationship between the snack and dinner figures is difficult to follow. Some transitions are also repetitive, and “Notable” does not connect naturally to the overview. Use concise comparisons and ensure each linking phrase accurately expresses the relationship between the figures.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a suitable range of chart-reporting vocabulary, including “percentage breakdown,” “proportion,” “followed by” and “in contrast.” These choices help communicate the main comparisons, and the meaning is generally clear. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “huge amount” for a percentage, “produce the largest proportion,” and “contains the large quantity.” There are also spelling and word-form slips, including “fo,” “add sugar” and “quantiy.” Prefer precise, conventional expressions such as “account for the largest share” and “the proportion of added sugar.” More consistent accuracy in these choices would make the report sound more natural and precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including comparisons with “whereas” and “while,” and the overall meaning can usually be understood. However, errors in agreement, articles and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “dinner account” should be “dinner accounts,” and “snack provide” should be “snacks provide.” The phrase “breakfast share the lowest number nutrients of among all” has several grammatical problems that obscure the intended comparison. In “the lunch at 37% and 26% respectively,” the sentence structure also makes the comparison unclear. Practise building accurate comparison patterns, such as “Dinner accounts for 37%, compared with 26% at lunch,” and check subject–verb agreement and article use.
