Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the three nutrients and report several relevant figures, including added sugar in snacks (42%) and lunch values for sodium and saturated fat (29% and 26%). However, the overview is unclear and some key data are inaccurate: dinner sodium is 43%, not 42%, and the lowest sodium shares are breakfast and snacks, both 14%, rather than breakfast alone. The statement that breakfast percentages are equal is true only for saturated fat and added sugar (both 16%); sodium is 14%. Comparisons across all meals are limited, and some claims, such as “Saturated fat and sodium are least in meals,” are unclear. The response is also 132 words, below the 150-word minimum; the 18 words copied from the prompt do not count.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, an overview and two detail paragraphs, which gives the reader some structure. However, ideas do not progress clearly within these sections. The overview moves from sodium to breakfast comparisons without establishing the main patterns, while the detail paragraphs repeat the breakfast equality point and shift abruptly between snacks, dinner and lunch. Linking phrases such as “First of all” and “In similarity” are used, but they do not make the relationships between the figures clear. Group the information by meaningful patterns—for example, dinner’s high sodium and saturated-fat shares, then the snack peak in added sugar—and use clear references to the relevant nutrient and meal.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “percentages,” “typical meals,” “sodium,” “saturated fat” and “added sugar,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations make the data difficult to interpret. “The highest percentages is snack” does not clearly express that snacks account for the highest share of added sugar, and “peak in sodium” is not a natural description of a chart value. “In similarity” is also an inaccurate linking phrase. Aim for precise reporting language and vary repeated terms such as “meal” and “percentage”; for example, use “accounted for,” “share” and “proportion” where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response relies mainly on short, simple statements, with limited evidence of controlled complex sentence structures. Frequent errors in agreement and sentence formation affect clarity: “The pie chart below show” should be “shows,” and “The lower percentages is” has a plural–verb mismatch. Several fragments or incomplete constructions appear, including “As compare to saturated fat” and “Saturated fat and added sugar are breakfast are equally.” Articles, plurals and punctuation are also inconsistent, as seen in “three type” and the extra commas in the opening sentence. These errors sometimes make the intended comparison hard to follow. Practise complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and punctuation when editing.
