Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify several relevant figures, including added sugar in snacks (42%), sodium at dinner (43%), and the lunch shares for sodium (29%) and saturated fat (26%). However, the response does not provide a clear overview of the main pattern across all three nutrients, and some comparisons are inaccurate or unclear. For example, sodium’s 14% is not the lowest meal share overall: breakfast saturated fat and added sugar are both 16%, while sodium is tied with its snack figure at 14%. The statement that sugar has the lowest dinner share is also not supported, since sodium is not reported for dinner as lower than sugar; rather, sodium is highest there. Focus on the overall contrasts: dinner leads for sodium and saturated fat, while snacks lead for added sugar.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response includes relevant information and uses basic linking expressions such as “while” and “as we can see,” so the reader can identify some comparisons. However, the ideas are presented in one long paragraph without a clear overview or a logical grouping of the three nutrients. Several sentences repeat the same pattern of stating a “highest” or “lowest” share, and the opening lines do not establish a useful direction for the report. Some links are also difficult to follow, particularly the sentence comparing sodium and sugar in dinner. Organise the report into an introduction, a concise overview, and detail paragraphs grouped by meal or nutrient, and use clear comparison links to show how the figures relate.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a small set of task-related terms, including “nutrients,” “ratio,” “meals,” and “percent,” which allows you to report basic chart information. However, vocabulary is repetitive and some word combinations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “highest ratio of use,” “least ratio,” and “its relies about 43 percent.” Repeating “highest” and “lowest” also makes the comparisons less clear, especially when the figures do not support those claims. Use standard chart language such as “accounted for,” “proportion,” “share,” and “stood at,” while choosing terms that accurately describe the data. This would make the report more concise and easier to understand.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts to connect ideas with clauses using “while” and “as,” but sentence structures are mostly simple or joined in ways that are difficult to control. Errors in sentence formation and punctuation occur frequently, for example, “The provided charts illustrate that the meals of three types of nutrients consumed in the USA” is incomplete, and “Sugar and Saturated fat has a same ratio” has problems with agreement and article use. Several sentences run together without appropriate full stops, as in the comparisons of dinner and lunch. These errors sometimes make relationships between figures unclear. Practise complete subject–verb sentences, accurate singular and plural agreement, and punctuation that separates each comparison.
