Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main pattern that dinner has the largest shares of sodium and saturated fat, while snacks lead for added sugar. Several figures are also reported accurately, including dinner at 43% sodium and 37% saturated fat, and snacks at 21% saturated fat and 42% added sugar. However, the account is only partly complete: the final sentence stops during the lunch discussion, so lunch’s added-sugar figure of 19% is not reported, and the comparison of lunch values is unclear. The overview also says there are “three pie charts available” rather than summarising the key contrasts across all meals. A complete, clear comparison of the main highs and lows would make the response more fully address the task.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, an overview and two detail paragraphs, and the reader can follow the broad focus on dinner, snacks, breakfast and lunch. However, progression is weakened by sentence fragments and abrupt transitions, such as “Which are Sodium…” and the unfinished ending, “In addwd sugar lu”. Linking words are often used inaccurately or mechanically: “While” begins a fragment, and “Furthermore” does not clearly signal the relationship between the figures that follow. The paragraph about dinner and snacks also shifts between meals without a consistently clear comparison. Use complete sentences, group figures by a clear comparison, and connect each detail explicitly to the relevant meal and nutrient.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “accounted,” “consumed,” “approximately” and “surge,” and the nutrient names are generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning difficult to interpret, for example “Dinner consume accounted highest take” and “remain stable throughout the period,” although the chart compares meal types rather than change over time. Spelling errors such as “perticulr,” “significuntly” and “breackfast” are frequent enough to distract the reader. Aim for precise, natural phrases for describing proportions, such as “accounted for the largest share” and “the figure for snacks,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, but many sentences contain errors that make relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “Which are Sodium…” is a fragment, while “Dinner consume accounted highest” has an incorrect verb pattern and lacks the structure needed to express the comparison. There are also problems with articles, agreement and sentence boundaries, as in “a unhealthy” and “While, snack consumed high in Added sugar.” Some punctuation creates fragments rather than complete clauses. Practise building accurate subject–verb sentences first, then join related ideas with conjunctions; for example, “Dinner accounted for the highest proportions of sodium and saturated fat, at 43% and 37%, respectively.”
