Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main patterns: sodium and saturated fat peak at dinner, while added sugar is highest in snacks. You also include several relevant figures, such as sodium at 43% for dinner and sugar at 42% for snacks, so the response addresses the chart rather than merely listing unrelated details. However, some reporting is unclear or inaccurate: saturated fat at dinner is given as “42 37 percent,” although the chart shows 37%, and the overview says sodium is least used in snacks and breakfast without noting that these are tied. The comparison of meal patterns could also be developed more clearly, especially the contrast between dinner’s high sodium and fat shares and snacks’ high sugar share. More precise, complete reporting would strengthen the summary.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs reporting figures. This helps the reader follow the broad division between the nutrients. However, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes difficult to track. The overview combines several points in one sentence, and the final sentence repeats the earlier claim that sodium and saturated fat are highest at dinner while sugar is highest in snacks. Linking words such as “firstly” and “Moreover” provide some organisation, but the sequence of comparisons is not consistently clear, and “In last” does not work naturally as a concluding transition. Grouping the meal comparisons more systematically and avoiding repetition would make the cohesion more effective.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage,” “dinner,” “snacks,” and “least,” and the reader can generally identify which nutrient and meal you mean. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning harder to follow. For example, “rose use” does not clearly describe a proportion, “highly use” is not a natural way to report a chart figure, and “increased at high point” is vague. There are also spelling errors such as “leasst,” “launch,” and “saurated.” Use precise reporting language such as “accounted for,” “was highest,” and “the lowest proportion,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, and some information remains understandable despite errors. However, control of sentence structure and basic grammar is inconsistent. The opening, “This chart illustrate average percentage,” has subject–verb agreement and article problems, while “Saturated fat also used in all” is missing a necessary verb form. In “The saturated fat is highly use in dinner 42 37 percent,” the sentence structure does not clearly connect the nutrient, meal, and figure. Capitalisation at the start of paragraphs and punctuation around figures are also inconsistent. Practise accurate simple comparison sentences first, then combine them with clauses using “while” or “whereas”; this will allow more variety without sacrificing clarity.
