Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several relevant features, including dinner as the largest source of sodium and saturated fat, and snacks as the largest source of added sugar. You also report a number of figures accurately, such as sodium at 14% in breakfast and snacks and added sugar at 42% in snacks. However, coverage is partial: the overview says sodium is lowest in snacks, although breakfast is equally low, and it does not clearly summarise the contrasting meal patterns. The final claim that sodium is “the most used and increase in porportion” is unclear and conflicts with the chart, since added sugar is highest in snacks. Include a concise overview of the main contrasts and compare all three nutrients more consistently.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure, with an opening, an overview and two body paragraphs, and the sequence from sodium to sugar gives the reader some direction. However, progression is uneven: the overview introduces several points without clearly grouping the main patterns, while the final sentence returns to sodium without a clear link to the preceding discussion. Connectors such as “First of all” and “Secondly” are used mechanically, and “moreover” does not always express a clear relationship between ideas. Some comparisons are difficult to follow, particularly the sentence about lunch being lower than sodium and saturated fat. Organise the body around clear comparisons—for example, dinner’s high sodium and fat shares versus snacks’ high sugar share—and use linking phrases only where they clarify that relationship.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant terms, including “percentages,” “nutrients,” “sodium,” “saturated fat” and “added sugar,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the report awkward or unclear: “nutrients present in less as well as in high quantity,” “lunch take 29% sodium,” and “sugar round 42% add in snack.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “lagre,” “takr” and “porportion,” which reduce precision. Aim for standard chart-reporting phrases such as “accounted for,” “made up” and “the proportion of,” and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would help you express comparisons without relying on vague wording such as “most used.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, but control is inconsistent, and errors frequently make relationships between figures difficult to understand. For example, “The pie chart indicate” has subject–verb disagreement, while “all of them maybe unhealthy if ate” lacks a clear grammatical construction. Several sentences omit necessary verbs or use incomplete patterns, as in “Saturated fat moreover added sugar their presence same in breakfast.” Articles and prepositions are also often missing or misplaced, and the final sentence is difficult to parse. Use complete subject–verb sentences, such as “Saturated fat and added sugar each account for 16% at breakfast,” and check agreement and verb forms. A wider range of structures will be useful only when the basic sentence patterns are controlled.
