Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You report several key figures accurately: dinner is highest for sodium (43%) and saturated fat (37%), while snacks lead for added sugar (42%); you also note that breakfast and snacks are equal for sodium at 14%. However, the overview is unclear, especially the final comparison that “in sodium finmer percentage is top from saturated fat and added sugar,” which does not clearly identify the main pattern. The response also gives limited comparison across all three nutrients and does not fully develop the chart’s overall contrasts. It is 132 words, below the required 150, so the report is under-length. Add a concise overview and explain the contrasting meal patterns to cover the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has some organisation: it moves from sodium to saturated fat, then added sugar, and ends with an attempted overall statement. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, progression is weakened by unclear links and repeated points. For example, “Added sugar is snack is highest from all of them” is followed by another sentence saying the snack figure “was top of them,” repeating the same feature rather than developing a comparison. The final sentence is difficult to follow, so it does not effectively summarise the report. Use separate paragraphs for an overview and grouped details, and connect comparisons explicitly—for example, contrast dinner’s high sodium and fat shares with snacks’ high sugar share.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant chart vocabulary such as “percentage,” “highest,” “whereas,” and “overall,” and the nutrient names are generally clear. However, the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or awkward, which sometimes makes the comparisons difficult to understand. Examples include “highest from all of them,” “top of them,” and “finmer percentage”; these do not express the intended ranking naturally, and the last appears to be a spelling or word-choice error. “Average proportion in typical meals” is also imprecise for describing the chart. Build a more accurate range for reporting data, using expressions such as “accounted for,” “the largest share,” and “compared with,” and check spelling and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple statements and longer comparisons, but the range is limited and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences hard to interpret. The opening, “In the given chart below illustrates,” combines an introductory phrase with a verb structure that does not work; write either “The chart illustrates” or “The chart below shows.” Agreement and sentence construction are also problematic in “snack and breakfast percentage was 14%” and “Added sugar is snack is highest.” Punctuation spacing is inconsistent, and several clauses are joined without clear grammatical links. Practise forming complete subject–verb sentences and using accurate comparison structures, such as “The figures for breakfast and snacks were both 14%.”
