Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main pattern that dinner contributes the largest shares of sodium and saturated fat, and you report the key figures for all three nutrients. The comparison that added sugar is highest in snacks is also accurate and important. This gives the response a clear overview and covers the chart’s main categories. However, the overview contains a confusing claim that breakfast has the “least percent” for added sugars: breakfast is 16%, while lunch is lower at 19%? In fact, breakfast is lower than lunch, but the wording groups this with saturated fat, where breakfast is indeed lowest. The statement that lunch added sugar is low compared with the other nutrients is also imprecise. More precise comparisons and a clearer overview would strengthen the report further.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs presenting details. This helps the reader follow the three nutrient categories, and phrases such as “Overall” and “In terms of lunch” signal shifts in focus. However, progression is sometimes weakened by unclear or mechanical linking, as in “Follows by lunch” and “An evident of the image proved that.” The overview also combines several comparisons in one sentence, making the relationships difficult to follow. Grouping the main patterns more clearly—for example, dinner’s dominance for sodium and saturated fat, followed by the snack peak for sugar—would improve cohesion. Use linking expressions only where they clarify the comparison, and ensure each paragraph develops one clear point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of chart-reporting vocabulary, including “proportions,” “accounts for,” “peak,” and “declined,” and the reader can generally understand the intended comparisons. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “three various nutrients,” “marked low percent,” and “peak part.” Some expressions are also repetitive, particularly repeated references to “percent” and “proportion.” Spelling and spacing issues, including “addedsugars,” “saturatedfats,” and “morethan,” reduce the polish of the report. Aim for precise, natural phrases such as “the share of added sugar” and “the figure fell to,” and check compound terms and spacing carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You make some attempts to use longer structures, including “many of them is harmful if consumed excessively” and the sentence comparing lunch with the other nutrients. However, control of sentence structure and agreement is inconsistent, and several sentences are difficult to parse. For example, “The pie charts compares” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “Overall, it is observed percentage of the dinner are highest proportion” lacks a clear grammatical structure. Fragments such as “Follows by lunch 29%” also interrupt the flow. Use a reliable pattern such as “Dinner accounts for 43% of sodium intake, followed by lunch at 29%.” Check articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries, and build complex sentences only when their structure remains clear.
