Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You cover all three nutrients and report the main contrasts accurately: dinner is highest for sodium (43%) and saturated fat (37%), while snacks lead for added sugar (42%). The overview also identifies the low breakfast sugar figure and the prominence of snacks for sugar. This meets the task well, with some features more fully reported than others: the figures are generally precise, but the overview could compare the meal patterns more explicitly—for example, noting that dinner is the leading source of sodium and saturated fat, whereas snacks dominate added sugar. A few descriptions are unclear, such as “a small quantity of sugar was added in breakfast meals,” which could be stated more directly as breakfast’s share of added sugar. A sharper synthesis of the three charts would strengthen the response further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction and overview are followed by paragraphs on sodium and saturated fat, then added sugar. This makes the information easy to locate, and sequencing within the nutrient descriptions is mostly logical. However, some linking is mechanical or awkward. “Towards with sodium consumption” and “Following this” do not create natural transitions, while “While” and “Whereas” introduce sentence fragments rather than complete contrasts. The overview also repeats the dinner comparison without fully setting up the contrasting snack pattern. Use straightforward transitions such as “For sodium” and “By contrast, added sugar was highest in snacks,” and connect related figures in complete sentences. Clearer referencing and smoother links would make the progression more cohesive.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “accounted for,” “percentage,” “consumption,” and “in contrast,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts to vary descriptions rather than simply repeat the chart labels. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural: “porportion” is misspelled, “snacks noticed for a highest percentage” is not idiomatic, and “dinner made from saturated fat” misrepresents the relationship between meals and nutrient shares. “Stable” is also less precise than saying the two meal categories had equal shares. Aim for accurate reporting verbs and collocations, such as “accounted for the largest share” or “the proportion in snacks was.” This would improve precision while retaining your current range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including contrasts introduced by “While” and “Whereas,” and most of the data remains understandable. Some grammatical errors nevertheless recur. For example, “saturated fat accounted highest percentage” needs an article and a preposition (“accounted for the highest percentage”), while “dinner meals consists” has a subject–verb agreement error and an inconsistent tense. The clauses beginning “While the percentage…” and “Whereas snacks…” are fragments in this context, and punctuation around the added-sugar figures is inconsistent. Practise building complete contrast sentences and checking articles, agreement, and verb forms. More consistently accurate sentence construction would lift the response.
