Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the three nutrients and report several accurate figures, including sodium at 43% in dinner, added sugar at 42% in snacks, and the lunch figures of 29%, 26% and 19%. You also note that dinner is the main source of sodium and saturated fat, while snacks are the main source of added sugar. However, the overview is not clearly separated or fully developed, and some comparisons are incomplete: for example, breakfast is described as “almost 16 percent with same ratio,” although sodium is 14%, while saturated fat and added sugar are 16%. The response also repeats points about dinner and does not clearly summarise the overall contrast between the meal patterns. A clearer overview and more precise comparisons would make the key features easier to understand.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has some organisation: it begins with an introduction, then reports breakfast and the main peaks, before adding lunch and snack details. However, the progression is not consistently clear, and several ideas are repeated rather than grouped by a useful comparison. For instance, dinner being the main meal for sodium and saturated fat is stated more than once, while the figures for each nutrient are scattered across paragraphs. Linking words such as “Although” and “Therefore” are used, but the relationships they signal are sometimes unclear or unnecessary. Group the information into a concise overview followed by logically organised comparisons, and use references such as “this figure” only when their meaning is clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “consumption,” “nutrients,” “ratio” and the names of the meals, so the reader can generally identify what is being compared. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “consumption rates … in four part,” “people use these three nutrients,” and “intake saturated fats.” Repeated use of “used” also makes the description less precise. There are spelling errors in “suger” and “snaks,” and “percents” is not the appropriate form in these sentences. Use standard chart language such as “accounted for,” “consumed,” and “percentage,” and check spelling and natural collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Most sentences use simple structures, and you attempt a more complex contrast with “Although,” but the sentence is incomplete: “Although saturated fats mostly used in dinner with 37 percents.” Other errors include subject–verb agreement in “The pie chart illustrate,” missing articles or prepositions in “In USA” and “in four part,” and sentence fragments such as “As added suger used in snacks.” Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after full stops and a sentence beginning with a lowercase “people.” These errors sometimes make the relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise complete subject–verb sentences and use a small range of accurate comparison structures, such as “Dinner accounted for the highest share of sodium.”
