Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify all three nutrients and report several figures accurately, including sodium at dinner (43%), saturated fat at dinner (37%), and added sugar in snacks (42%). However, the overview is unclear and does not consistently identify the main contrasts: dinner is highest for sodium and saturated fat, while snacks are highest for added sugar. Some descriptions also mislabel nutrients as “suger” and the phrase “more than average 43% in dinner” does not clearly state what the figure represents. The conclusion that saturated fat shows a “normal level” is unsupported by the chart. The response is also 15 words below the required minimum. To improve, give a clear overview, describe the key patterns accurately, and include enough relevant detail to meet the task requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction to a summary of the charts and then a conclusion. It also attempts to sequence information with “Overall,” “Secondly,” and “The last chart.” However, progression is difficult to follow because the overview and detailed comparisons are mixed together, and several links between ideas are unclear. For example, “In first of all more than average 43% in dinner” does not establish which nutrient is being discussed, while “In conclusion” introduces a claim that does not follow logically from the preceding figures. Organise the body by nutrient or by meal, and use clear references such as “For sodium” and “By contrast” to guide the reader.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “pie chart,” “percentage,” “dinner,” and the names of the three nutrients, so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the vocabulary is basic and repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “level” and “suger,” and several word choices make the data difficult to interpret. “Average percentage in typically meals” and “normal level of suger every port” are not natural or precise descriptions. Spelling errors such as “suger” also reduce clarity. Build a small range of accurate chart-reporting phrases, such as “accounted for,” “the highest proportion,” and “was followed by,” and use the correct nutrient names consistently.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response relies mainly on short, simple statements and shows limited control of sentence construction. Errors in agreement and sentence formation appear in “The three pie chart illustrate” and “the three pie chart that which are sodium … shows,” making the relationships between ideas unclear. Articles and plural forms are also problematic in “in typically meals,” while punctuation is inconsistent, including missing spaces after commas. There is an attempt to connect information in longer sentences, but these often become incomplete or confusing. Practise forming clear subject–verb sentences, for example, “The charts illustrate the proportions of three nutrients in four meals,” and check agreement, articles, plurals, and punctuation before submitting.
