Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the main pattern that dinner accounts for the largest shares of sodium and saturated fat, while snacks lead for added sugar, and you include several relevant figures. However, coverage is partial: breakfast and the full set of comparisons are not reported, and the overview is brief rather than a clear summary of the chart’s main contrasts. One comparison is inaccurate: saturated-fat lunch is 26%, three percentage points below sodium lunch at 29%, not simply “in 3% difference” without clarifying the direction. The response also contains 140 words, below the required 150; the 14 words copied from the prompt were excluded from that count. Develop the overview and report the key figures more systematically.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure, beginning with an introduction and overview before moving to details, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” and “In addition” show an attempt to connect points. However, progression is not consistently clear: the discussion moves between nutrients and meals without a systematic order, and some links are mechanical or do not clarify the comparison. For example, “At last” introduces another lunch figure, while “In addition” precedes a comparison that is difficult to interpret. Group the information by nutrient or by meal, and use linking phrases only when they express a clear relationship. This would make the report easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “proportion,” “contributed,” and “greatest,” and the reader can generally identify which meals and nutrients you mean. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or informal for an academic report. “Dinner has huge involvement” and “snack take a bid part” do not express the data naturally; “accounts for the largest share” and “snacks make up a substantial proportion” would be clearer. “Allover” is also unsuitable here, and “approximately 1 of 3” conflicts with the stated 21%. Aim for precise terms such as “share,” “account for,” and “respectively,” and check spelling and phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, and the main subject matter is usually understandable. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation. Examples include “snack take,” “lunch in added sugar has took,” and “Dinner has huge involvement,” where verb forms or sentence patterns are faulty. Punctuation also disrupts readability, as in “meals .On the other hand” and “In addition ,”. Practise forming accurate comparisons with a clear subject and verb, for example, “Dinner accounts for 43% of sodium intake, compared with 29% at lunch.” Use consistent capitalisation and place spaces correctly around punctuation.
