Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main pattern accurately: dinner has the largest shares of sodium and saturated fat, while snacks lead for added sugar. You also include several relevant figures, such as 43% and 37% for dinner and 42% for snack sugar, so the key features are clear. This meets the task well, with some evidence of a more complete comparison. However, the overview’s claim that breakfast has the lowest value for all three nutrients is not fully accurate: breakfast and snacks are tied at 14% for sodium, and breakfast is not the lowest meal for saturated fat. The discussion also omits the 19% lunch figure for added sugar and gives limited comparison across all four meals. More precise overview wording and fuller coverage would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for sodium/saturated fat and added sugar. This helps the reader follow the broad organisation. However, progression within sentences is sometimes difficult to track, and linking expressions are often mechanical or incorrectly used. For example, “moreover” introduces figures that do not clearly follow the preceding comparison, while “morelike” and “finally” do not create a clear relationship between the data. Some references are also unclear, as in “21% and 16% respectively,” where the order of snack and breakfast is not stated explicitly. Grouping the figures in a consistent meal order and using simpler, accurate links would make the comparisons easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “proportion,” “leading source,” “account for,” and “prominent,” and the reader can generally identify the nutrients and meals being compared. However, inaccurate spelling and word choice are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning harder to process: “suger,” “repectively,” “domient,” and “conume” appear in the response. Several phrases are also unnatural, such as “known as a highest consumption,” “more of share,” and “second choice by people.” Aim for precise, conventional language for describing proportions, such as “accounted for,” “represented,” and “the second-largest share.” Proofreading spelling and choosing natural collocations would improve clarity and control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the contrast in “Overall, dinner … while the added sugar …” and the opening phrase “Looking closely to…”. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors occur in basic sentence construction as well as longer clauses. Examples include “dinner known as a highest consumption,” which lacks a correctly formed verb phrase, and “the breakfast contribute lowest value,” where the verb and sentence structure are faulty. The sentence beginning “snack and breakfast account for smaller proportion” also has problems with article use and its ending is difficult to parse. Use complete subject–verb structures, check singular/plural agreement, and divide long comparisons into shorter sentences. This would make your range more effective and reduce errors that currently affect readability.
