Average percentages of sodium, saturated fats and added sugars in typical meals consumed in the USA
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The charts illustrate different nutrients in any typical meal that consumed by people in whole day. These nutrients also effect the health on consuming the large perpotion.
Overall, there are 3 major nutrients called sodium, saturated fat and added sugar that become the part of our daily food. Every meal consumed by USA citizen has different nutrient ratio.
Dinner eates by USA people contain maximum nutrients such as sodium is 43%, fat 37% and sugar 23% that is very excessive propotion that is not good for health. Rther than this , snaks are compulsory part of their food which have largest portion of suger as compared to fat and sodium. Their breakfast is very light as it has limited amount of nutrients but sugar has still maximum percentage as compared to other nutrients.
USA residents eat very balanced lunch as compared to breakfast and dinner. Such ratio of nutrients benificial for the health. But their dinner is the cause of obesity and other health deseas.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the three nutrients and report several key figures accurately, including dinner’s highest shares of sodium (43%) and saturated fat (37%), and snacks’ leading share of added sugar (42%). This gives the response a relevant overview and addresses the chart’s main comparisons. However, some interpretations are unsupported or inaccurate: calling lunch “very balanced” and “beneficial for the health” is not demonstrated by the percentages, and saying breakfast has the “maximum” sugar is incorrect because its 16% is lower than the snack and dinner figures. The claim that dinner causes obesity also goes beyond what the charts show. To strengthen the report, describe the meal-by-meal patterns neutrally and compare the figures without making health or causation claims.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overall statement, and further comparisons across meals. This helps the reader follow the general topic. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the paragraph moves from dinner to snacks and breakfast, then shifts to lunch and health conclusions without a systematic comparison. Linking phrases such as “Rther than this” and “But” do not always express the relationship between the ideas clearly, and “Overall” introduces details rather than a concise summary of the main patterns. Organise the body around the chart’s strongest contrasts—for example, dinner’s high sodium and fat, then snacks’ high sugar—and use clear references to connect each comparison.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage,” “ratio,” “maximum,” and “portion,” and the reader can generally identify the nutrients and meals being discussed. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “nutrients in any typical meal that consumed,” “compulsory part,” and “balanced lunch.” Spelling errors—including “perpotion,” “snaks,” “suger,” and “des eases”—also make the writing less clear and reduce precision. Aim for neutral, accurate reporting language rather than evaluative claims: phrases such as “accounted for,” “the highest proportion,” and “was lower than” are well suited to describing chart data.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and some relationships between ideas are understandable. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, particularly in clauses and verb forms. For example, “that consumed by people” is missing a suitable relative construction and auxiliary, while “Dinner eates by USA people contain” has an incorrect verb form and an unclear passive structure. There are also problems with articles and sentence construction in “there are 3 major nutrients called…” and “Such ratio of nutrients benificial for the health.” These errors sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Practise building accurate comparison sentences, such as “Dinner contains the highest proportion of sodium,” and check that each sentence has a complete subject and verb.
