Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Average percentages of sodium, saturated fats and added sugars in typical meals consumed in the USA
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The pie chart illustrate the records of typical meals in three catagories of nutrients which may be unhealthy if consumed in large quantity at USA.
Overall, sodium and saturated fat is highest in dinner while sugar is in high quantity in snack. However, breakfast obtains lowest types of nutrients in all catagories regarding sodium, saturated fat and added sugar in the given data.
Initially, 14% of sodium is contained in both snack and breakfast which refers to be lowest than 43% of sodium in Dinner and average 29% in lunch.
Furthermore, maximum quantity of saturated fat acquiring 37% in dinner at the same, time slight fall can be seen in lunch having 26% . In addition, 16% of saturated fat which is the minimal point in breakfast than in 21% of nutrient in snack.
Moreover, snack holds excessive amount of sugar containing 42% than the amount of dinner 23% . While lunch and breakfast have slight difference of 3% in the case of sugar holding 16% and 19% of added sugar.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You identify the main pattern accurately: dinner has the largest shares of sodium and saturated fat, while snacks account for the most added sugar. The overview also notes breakfast’s generally low contribution, and the body includes relevant figures such as 43% sodium at dinner and 37% saturated fat at dinner. Most comparisons match the chart. However, the claim that breakfast has the lowest amount of every nutrient is not fully accurate: for added sugar, breakfast is lowest at 16%, but lunch is 19%, while the statement that breakfast is lowest across all categories overlooks that snacks and breakfast tie for sodium. The response addresses the task clearly, but more precise comparisons and a sharper overview would strengthen its coverage further.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate comparisons of the three nutrients. Sequencing with “Overall,” “Furthermore,” and “Moreover” helps readers follow the information. However, some linking is mechanical, and a few connections are unclear. For example, “at the same, time slight fall can be seen in lunch” interrupts the comparison and does not clearly explain how the figures relate. The final sentence begins with “While” but is not joined to a main clause, so the ending feels incomplete. Grouping the figures into clearer comparisons—for example, dinner versus the other meals for sodium and saturated fat—would improve progression and make the paragraph links more natural.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “contained,” “maximum quantity,” “minimal point,” and “holds,” and the reader can generally understand the comparisons. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing percentages: “records of typical meals,” “catagories of nutrients,” “sugar is in high quantity,” and “excessive amount of sugar” do not express the data precisely. “Acquiring” is also an awkward choice for the share of saturated fat in dinner. Spelling errors such as “catagories” are noticeable, and repeated use of “quantity” limits variety. Aim for precise collocations such as “accounts for,” “makes up,” and “the highest proportion,” while checking spelling and avoiding language that suggests an absolute amount rather than a percentage.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the overview beginning “Overall” and the comparison introduced by “While.” Meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors recur. The opening needs subject–verb agreement and an article: “The pie chart illustrate” should be “The pie chart illustrates.” In “sodium and saturated fat is highest,” the plural subject requires “are,” and “at USA” needs a different article/preposition pattern. The sentence beginning “While lunch and breakfast…” is a dependent clause without a complete main clause. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly around commas and spaces. Practise checking agreement, complete sentence structure, and punctuation after drafting; these corrections would make your comparisons easier to read.
