Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You identify the main pattern accurately: dinner has the largest shares of sodium and saturated fat, while snacks lead in added sugar. The overview also notes breakfast’s generally low contribution, and the body includes relevant comparisons across meals. However, one key figure is inaccurate: dinner’s sodium share is 43%, not 42%. The claim that breakfast is the least for all three nutrients is also not fully supported, since breakfast and snacks are tied for the lowest sodium share at 14%. Despite these small inaccuracies, the response selects the principal features and reports most figures correctly. To strengthen the account further, make comparisons more precise and ensure every overview statement reflects the chart exactly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and two body paragraphs that group the nutrient data. This makes the main comparisons reasonably easy to follow. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or unclear: several sentences begin with “While,” “However,” or “Whereas” without being joined smoothly to the preceding idea, and “Looking, at the all…” does not provide a clear transition. Some references are also awkward, such as “which was 42% and 37% respectively,” where the figures need to be linked more directly to the two nutrients. Use fewer sentence fragments and connect comparisons within complete sentences. Clearer sequencing and more precise referencing would make the progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “percentage,” “proportion,” “contribute,” and the names of all three nutrients, so the topic remains understandable. There is some attempt to vary wording, but several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “dinneris accounted highest,” “unhealthy nutriends,” and “the break was contributed.” Spelling slips such as “iconsumed” and “nutriends” also reduce precision. Repeated use of “accounted” and “contributed” suggests a limited range of reliable collocations. Aim for straightforward, accurate expressions such as “accounted for,” “made up,” and “the share of added sugar,” and check spelling carefully. This would make the description clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some complex sentence forms, including contrasts introduced by “While” and “However,” but control is inconsistent. Several sentences have faulty verb patterns or missing grammatical elements: “dinneris accounted highest” needs a correctly formed verb phrase, and “snack and breakfast was equally contributed sodium” has problems with both agreement and sentence construction. The final sentence also combines several comparisons without clear grammatical links. Punctuation is sometimes misplaced, as in “Looking, at the all…,” and spacing around words is inconsistent. These errors can make relationships between figures harder to follow. Practise building accurate simple comparison sentences first, then combine them using subordinate clauses and check subject–verb agreement.
