Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main pattern accurately: dinner has the largest shares of sodium and saturated fat, while snacks lead for added sugar. The key figures you report are also correct, including sodium at 43% for dinner and 29% for lunch, and added sugar at 42% for snacks. This gives the response a clear overview and relevant comparisons. To make the report more complete, develop the overview beyond the leading meal for each nutrient—for example, note that breakfast is the smallest contributor to saturated fat and that added-sugar figures are more evenly distributed across breakfast, lunch and dinner than the other nutrients. Some comparisons, such as the near-equal breakfast and snack sodium shares, are included but could be integrated more clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction and overview are followed by separate paragraphs on sodium, saturated fat and added sugar. This makes the information easy to locate, and sequencing the figures by nutrient is a sensible approach. However, the repeated transitions “First of all,” “Secondly,” and “Thirdly” make the progression somewhat mechanical. Several sentences also repeat the same pattern of naming the highest percentage and then the next one, rather than grouping comparisons to create a smoother account. Improve cohesion by using more varied links and clearer comparisons between meals or nutrients, while keeping each paragraph focused. The overview could also be separated more distinctly from the detailed reporting.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage,” “highest,” “second highest,” and “respectively,” so the data is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several phrases are unnatural or imprecise, such as “dinner followed the highest percentage,” “at saturated fat,” and “contains the highest percentage.” These repeated formulations reduce flexibility and make the report sound less natural. Choose precise reporting verbs and collocations, such as “accounted for,” “represented,” or “contributed,” and use “share” or “proportion” to avoid repeating “percentage.” There are also spelling slips, including “conatin,” which should be checked carefully. More accurate and varied vocabulary would make the comparisons clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You communicate the comparisons using mostly simple sentences, with some attempts to combine information through clauses such as “that shows 43% of total.” The meaning is generally recoverable, but grammatical control is uneven. The opening has subject–verb disagreement in “The three pie charts provides,” and “consumed in four meals in USA” needs more accurate article and preposition use. There are also inconsistent verb forms: “breakfast and snacks contain equal percentage that were 14%” shifts between present and past and has a singular/plural mismatch. Aim for a reliable mix of simple and complex structures, and check agreement, articles and tense consistency. For example, “Breakfast and snacks each account for 14%” is both concise and grammatically controlled.
