Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main pattern that dinner has the highest shares of sodium and saturated fat, while snacks lead for added sugar. However, the report is incomplete and some comparisons are inaccurate: sodium at breakfast and snacks is 14% each, not a combined 28% in each meal, and breakfast is not the lowest meal for all three nutrients because added sugar is lowest at breakfast but sodium is tied with snacks. The response also ends before fully reporting the added-sugar figures or comparing all meals. At 122 words, it is below the required 150, which limits how fully the key features can be covered. Include an overview and accurate comparisons across all three charts.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is a basic paragraph structure, with an introduction, an overview and a paragraph beginning “To the begin” that attempts to describe details. The main comparisons can be followed, but progression is limited: the final sentence about added sugar is isolated and does not develop into a complete comparison. Linking phrases such as “on the other hand” and “Also” are used, although the contrast is not always clear, and the overview repeats information rather than guiding the reader through the charts. Group the details by nutrient or by meal, use a clear sequence, and connect each comparison to the relevant figures. This would make the organisation more coherent and reduce the impression of disconnected points.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some task-related vocabulary, including “average percentages,” “nutrients,” “consumed” and “compared to,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less clear, such as “Pepole,” “suger,” “snake time,” and “taken huge.” Phrases such as “three varieties of food nutrients that causes unhealthy” are also imprecise and unnatural. Use accurate chart language and collocations, for example “the proportion of sodium,” “accounted for,” and “the highest share.” Check spelling carefully, and avoid repeating “taken” or “consumed” when describing percentages.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a contrast introduced by “while,” but the range is limited and errors occur frequently. For example, “nutrients that causes unhealthy if eat it much” has problems with agreement and clause structure; “Pepole much eaten” uses an incorrect verb form and word order; and “USA citizen taken less” lacks appropriate number and verb agreement. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner” and the lower-case “however” after a full stop. Practise forming accurate subject–verb–object sentences and use a reliable pattern such as “Dinner accounts for 43% of sodium intake.” Then add comparisons using correctly formed clauses.
