Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You identify the main patterns accurately: dinner has the highest shares of sodium and saturated fat, while snacks account for the largest proportion of added sugar. The figures you report are also consistent with the chart, including the equal 14% shares of sodium at breakfast and in snacks. This gives the response a clear overview and relevant supporting detail. To make the account more fully developed, compare the nutrients across meals more explicitly—for example, note that dinner is the leading meal for two nutrients, whereas snacks lead only for sugar, and that breakfast is lowest for saturated fat and added sugar but tied for lowest sodium. This would sharpen the overview rather than simply listing figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two detail paragraphs, with the nutrient information grouped in a sensible order. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “To begin with,” and “Furthermore” help signal progression. This is a coherent arrangement, but some connections are mechanical or unclear. For instance, “Moreover” introduces another nutrient without showing how it relates to the sodium figures, and the final sentence strings several comparisons together with “while” and “meanwhile.” Use clearer sentence boundaries and organise each paragraph around a direct comparison of meal categories. More precise referencing would also help the reader follow which nutrient or meal each statement concerns.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “proportion,” “majority,” and “percentage,” and terms such as “sodium,” “saturated fat,” and “added sugar” make the subject clear. However, the range and control are limited by repeated, awkward phrases such as “saturated fat nutrients” and “sugar add,” as well as spelling errors including “cuisins,” “higest,” and “tyoical.” Some expressions are also imprecise: “over a third (21%)” does not accurately describe the snack figure, which is just over a fifth. Aim for natural collocations such as “the proportion of saturated fat” and “added sugar accounted for,” and check spelling and whether descriptive fractions match the data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of sentence forms, including contrast clauses with “while” and “whereas,” and the overall meaning can generally be followed. However, sentence control is inconsistent, with frequent errors in agreement, articles, and clause construction. For example, “majority of sodium and sat urated fat in dinner” lacks a main verb, while “this all three nutrients is lowest” has incorrect agreement and an unclear structure. In “sodium nutrients is the higest percentage,” the subject and verb do not agree. Several long sentences also run together, particularly the final sentence. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then use shorter, accurately punctuated comparisons before attempting more complex structures.
