Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the three nutrient charts and report several key figures accurately, including sodium at 14% for breakfast and snacks, 29% for lunch and 43% for dinner, as well as added sugar at 42% for snacks. However, the response does not give a clear overview of the main patterns: dinner is highest for sodium and saturated fat, while snacks are highest for added sugar. Some comparisons are also unclear or inaccurate. For example, you say lunch and dinner in the saturated-fat chart are “decreased than” sodium, but do not make the comparison precise; you also describe added-sugar dinner as lower than “other two meals,” although it is higher than breakfast and lunch. Select the dominant features and compare them explicitly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview-like paragraph to sodium and saturated fat, then added sugar. This gives the reader some sense of the chart sequence. However, progression is weakened by repetition: the second paragraph repeatedly says that the charts contain the same meals, rather than summarising their patterns. Linking phrases such as “At the end,” “On moving to,” and “With the subsequent stage” sound mechanical, and references such as “other two meals” are not always clear. Organise the body around the most important comparisons, and use concise links such as “By contrast” or “Similarly” only where they clarify relationships.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage,” “higher,” “same,” and “decreased,” and the reader can generally identify the categories being discussed. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “normal percentage,” “meals of sodium charts,” and “Lunch standing on just 29%.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “indivisually,” “chasrt,” and “satuarated.” Use standard data-reporting expressions and check spelling carefully; precise terms such as “accounted for,” “stood at,” and “the largest share” would make comparisons clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts some longer sentences and uses basic comparison structures, but sentence control is inconsistent. The opening, “The pie charts given below illustrates,” has subject–verb disagreement, while “In sodium chart, Include four different types of meals” is an incomplete and incorrectly punctuated sentence. Other examples, such as “Every meal have diffrent percentage” and “the percentage of dinner is at 23%,” show problems with agreement and sentence formation. Most ideas remain understandable, but these recurring errors can interrupt reading. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement, articles, and punctuation. A wider range of accurate simple and complex sentences would improve clarity.
