Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main pattern that dinner contributes the largest shares of sodium and saturated fat, and you also note the contrasting peak for added sugar in snacks. Most figures are reported accurately, including dinner’s 43% sodium and 37% saturated fat, and snacks’ 42% added sugar. However, the overview overgeneralises when it says dinner contains the highest amounts of “these” nutrients, since snacks lead for added sugar. Calling breakfast the healthiest meal is also not fully supported: it has the lowest or joint-lowest shares for some nutrients, but the charts do not establish overall healthiness. To strengthen the response, make the overview more precise and compare the three patterns directly, including that dinner is highest for two nutrients while snacks are highest for one.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction and overview are followed by details about sodium, saturated fat and added sugar. This gives the reader a generally coherent route through the information, and transitions such as “According to the first chart” and “However” help signal shifts. The progression is not fully smooth, though: the overview’s claim about dinner conflicts with the later point that snacks lead in added sugar, and several details run together without clear sentence boundaries. For example, the sodium figures are followed immediately by the saturated-fat comparison. Use separate, balanced paragraphs for the overview and grouped details, and make contrast markers reflect the actual relationships between meals.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “daily sodium intake,” “accounted for,” “contributed,” and “added sugar,” so the topic is clear. However, the range is somewhat limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive. “Dinner responsible for 43%” needs a more natural reporting phrase, while “contains too much” makes a judgement that the chart itself does not establish. There are also spelling errors such as “highestt” and “sanck,” and “Its contributed” is an incorrect word form. Aim for precise, neutral language for describing proportions, and vary reporting verbs without forcing less natural expressions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response includes some sentence variety, such as the contrast introduced by “However,” and most of the data remains understandable. Nevertheless, grammatical control is inconsistent, with errors in sentence structure, articles, agreement and punctuation. For example, “dinner responsible for 43%” is missing a finite verb, and “the meal that contains highest amounts” needs an article before “highest.” The sentence beginning “Its contributed” also has an incorrect subject–verb construction. Several full stops are missing spaces or are placed directly after the preceding sentence, making the comparisons harder to follow. Practise complete subject–verb sentences and check articles, verb forms and sentence boundaries during proofreading.
