Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is argued by many people have decided to mitigate the number of times they fly each year or to halt flying altogether. I think the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.

A wide range of advantages of reducing the number of flight times in every year. One possible advantage is saving our natural habitat. This is because animals live safely. If the number of flights are reduce each year, it will be a greater opportunities for the environment. For example, although animals save their species and reduces the percentage of rare animals. Another benefit could be that it decreases our carbon di-oxide levels. The main reason is that when plane is landing in airport, this time it creates smoking, which mixed with carbon di-oxide. Furthermore, people may follow this problem, they will went down their problem. For instance, slashing the number of flights can save our environment from different man-made problems.

On the other hand, reducing the number of flights it creates various issues on individuals and businesses. Firstly, it impacts on business marketing. Because each business used to airline. Moreover, companies will not use the international airport for supplying different goods, if they can face financial burden situation. To illustrate, the international flights greater demands on business, they supply products in different nations.

Secondly, this reduce the number of flights create a detrimental problem for passengers. This is because passengers do not travel another country frequently. Additionally, if passerngers do not travel oftenly in different countries, this problem will create a huge drawbacks for governments.

To sum up, although many people have decided to reduce the number of times they fly every year or to prevent flying altogether. I believe that reduce the number of flights it created disadvantages for individuals and businesses; therefore people should open their flight times and also maintain their regulations when passengers are travelling.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear overall view that the disadvantages outweigh the environmental benefits, and you discuss both sides of the question. The points about protecting habitats and reducing emissions are relevant, as are the effects on businesses and passengers. However, the position is not consistently developed: the opening states your view, but the conclusion shifts to saying people should “open their flight times,” which makes your recommendation unclear. Several explanations are difficult to follow, such as how fewer flights would create “a greater opportunities” for the environment or how reduced travel would cause drawbacks for governments. Develop each main point with a clear cause-and-effect explanation and a specific example, and keep your position consistent throughout. The response meets the task’s length requirement; 15 words copied from the prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on environmental benefits, a paragraph on disadvantages, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “On the other hand,” “Firstly,” and “Secondly” help signal the shift between ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear, and some links do not show a logical relationship. For example, “Furthermore, people may follow this problem” does not clearly connect to the preceding point about emissions, while “For instance” introduces a statement that largely repeats the general claim rather than illustrating it. The conclusion also does not clearly resolve the argument. Use fewer, more precise linking expressions, make each sentence build on the previous one, and ensure examples directly support the point they follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “natural habitat,” “carbon di-oxide,” “financial burden,” and “detrimental,” and you use some variation rather than relying entirely on basic words. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate enough to make meaning unclear. Phrases such as “business marketing,” “used to airline,” “smoking” for aircraft emissions, and “open their flight times” do not express the intended ideas naturally. There are also spelling and form problems, including “passerngers” and “oftenly.” Aim to learn common collocations for this topic, such as “air freight,” “aviation emissions,” and “reduce the frequency of flights,” and check that each chosen phrase conveys your intended meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including conditional clauses beginning “If” and explanations introduced by “This is because.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction can make the argument difficult to follow. Examples include “the number of flights are reduce,” “it will be a greater opportunities,” and “this reduce the number of flights create.” Some sentences are fragments, such as “Because each business used to airline,” while the final sentence contains an unclear structure: “I believe that reduce the number of flights it created disadvantages.” Practise building complete subject–verb sentences, checking singular/plural agreement, and using a smaller range of structures accurately before adding more complexity.
