Student answer (Band 5.0)

In recent years, people argue and decided to minimize the number of times they travel by air every year or to stop flying completely. This essay will examine the environment benefits of this development outweight the drawbacks for individual and businesses. I strongly agree with this view that this decision have environmental benefits.

On the one hand, the major drawback of this development will effect business because people are trading all over the world and for promotion they have to travel oftenly. It also increase the health issues. For instance, the family members who are living far away from their home cannot meet occasinally and in case of emergency.

On the other hand, the benefits of this development are more. The reduction of fly every year can save money for people. People can use online apps like zoom meeting and other mediums of communication to talk with eachother.

In conclusion, where this developmnet effect business and depression it also can promote the other things like saving money.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You state a clear overall view in the introduction—“I strongly agree”—and include disadvantages as well as benefits, so the response is relevant to the question. However, the discussion addresses the task only partially: the environmental benefits, which are central to the prompt, are not explained. The points about saving money and using Zoom are not connected to reduced emissions or other environmental effects, and the business disadvantage is only briefly mentioned. The claim that reduced flying increases health issues is also unclear and unsupported. The response is below the required 250 words, which limits the opportunity to develop reasons and examples. To strengthen it, explain how fewer flights could reduce pollution, then compare that benefit with specific effects on businesses and individuals.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting disadvantages, a paragraph on benefits, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers identify these stages. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited, and some links between ideas are unclear. For example, “It also increase the health issues” does not clearly connect to the preceding point about business travel, while the conclusion introduces “depression” without explaining it earlier. The final sentence also does not clearly summarise the comparison or restate the position. Develop each paragraph around one main idea and use linking phrases to show how each reason supports your answer.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “reduce,” “environment,” “business,” and “communication,” and the reader can generally understand your main points. However, the range is limited, with repeated general words such as “people,” “development,” and “things.” Several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, including “environment benefits,” “promotion they have to travel,” and “the reduction of fly.” Spelling errors such as “outweight,” “occasinally,” and “developmnet” also reduce accuracy. Aim to use more precise topic vocabulary, such as emissions, carbon footprint, international trade, and remote meetings, and check spelling and natural word combinations during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a few different sentence forms, including a relative clause in “family members who are living far away” and a conditional phrase in “in case of emergency.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences awkward or unclear. For example, “people argue and decided” has inconsistent verb forms, “this decision have” has subject–verb disagreement, and “It also increase” lacks the correct verb form. The sentence beginning “In conclusion, where this development…” is also difficult to follow because its clause structure is incomplete or unclear. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and build longer sentences from clear main clauses with correctly connected supporting clauses.
