Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, people frequently travel by planes to reach their destinations on time. For people air travel is more convenient and relaxing and they prefer air travel to travelling by car. However, there are both pros and cons to deciding to do this. In this essay i will discuss some of the reasons why air travel should minimize and some of the challenges to be overcome.

Let's begin by looking at the advantage of having less air travel. One of the main positives of it is that it may lead to less global warming and ultimately reduce the pollution. What i meant by this is that planes continuously emit carbon monoxide in the atmosphere that results in increasing the high index of air. For instance, the world have been reached to high quality index these days due to air pollution. This can make you reduce unnecessary air travel in order to make environment less harmful in the future.

Turning to the other side of the argument, business and toursim will be largely affected by it. To me more precise a significant number of buisness have been running all over the world for decades with the help of air travels. A number of international business deals take place every year. On top of that individuals often visit different countries every year to be captivated by nature. This process takes

time and can be especially challenging if people decide to stop air travels.

All things considered, decisions have been made by some people to reduce

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify relevant effects on both the environment and people or businesses: reduced emissions are presented as a benefit, while international business and tourism are described as disadvantages. However, the response does not clearly answer the central question of whether the benefits outweigh those disadvantages. The introduction promises to discuss reasons for reducing flights and “challenges,” but the conclusion is cut off after “decisions have been made by some people to reduce,” so no final judgement is given. The environmental explanation is also unclear and partly inaccurate, and the business and tourism points are asserted rather than supported with specific examples. State your position directly and develop each side with clearer reasoning and relevant evidence.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph on environmental benefits, and a paragraph on disadvantages. Signposts such as “Let’s begin” and “Turning to the other side” help indicate the intended direction. However, progression is weakened by unclear links between claims: the discussion of air pollution moves from aircraft emissions to an “index” without explaining the connection, and the business paragraph shifts to tourism without a clear transition. Some linking phrases sound formulaic, and the final sentence is incomplete, leaving the argument without a proper conclusion. Organise the body around one main idea per paragraph, explain how each example supports it, and finish with a concise summary that answers the outweigh question.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main areas of the discussion, including “global warming,” “pollution,” “international business deals,” and “air travel.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “All things considered.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, including “high quality index,” “business have been running,” and “stop air travels.” Spelling errors such as “toursim” and “buisness” also reduce accuracy. These issues sometimes make the intended meaning harder to follow. Build a more precise set of expressions for emissions, environmental impact, and economic consequences, and check spelling and natural word combinations when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a relative clause in “planes continuously emit… that results…” and a conditional purpose construction in “in order to make environment less harmful.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors can make some sentences difficult to interpret. Examples include “the world have been reached,” “a significant number of business have been running,” and “This can make you reduce,” which show problems with verb forms, agreement, and sentence construction. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in lowercase “i” and the missing space after “pollution.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and complete sentence patterns, then proofread each sentence for verb form, articles, and punctuation.
