Student answer (Band 6.0)

Air lines are the one of the safest and less time comsuming type of strasprtation in the world. Some people have decided to decline the number of flights every year or stop flying altogether. It has numerous environmental advantages as well as disadvantages for individuals and businesses. However, the environmental benefits of its development outweigh the disadvantages.

Reducing the number of times people fly leads to control air and noise pollution. Huge amount of fuel is needed to complete a flight. Excessive fuel consumption leads to decline the quality of the air due to greenhouse gas emission, especially carbon dioxide and increase the environment temperature. Additionally, an excessive amount of greenhouse gas emission leads to increase the envionmental temperature, which can cause plenty of disadvantages such as increase sea levels due to glacier melting. It can lead to land reduction. Moreover, noise pollution can be limited due to reduction of number of flights.

However, if people decide to reduce the number of times they fly every year or stop flying altogether, it will have a lot of diadvantages for businesses as well as for individuals. Firstly, the economy of air lines can collapse. If people do not fly many times anymore, number of flights will be limited. Consequently, the income of air lines reduces and unemployemnt can be increased. So, reduction of the number of flights can cause significant impact to the business as well as individuals who work under air line companies.

In conclusion, eventhough there are disadvantages of declining number of flights, there are plenty of benefits from it. In my opinion, the environmental benefits of this development always outweigh the disadvatahes for air lime companies and individuals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the question and state a clear position: “the environmental benefits of this development outweigh the disadvantages.” The environmental paragraph gives relevant effects, including emissions, rising temperatures, sea-level rise and noise, while the business paragraph explains possible effects on airlines and their employees. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that airline businesses could “collapse” is not supported with detail, and the disadvantages for individuals are only briefly mentioned through employment. Develop this side with a specific example, such as reduced access to distant family or fewer options for business travel, then weigh those costs directly against the environmental gains. The response covers the task, but its ideas are not equally developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for environmental benefits and disadvantages, and a conclusion that restates your view. Linking expressions such as “Additionally,” “Moreover,” “However,” and “Consequently” help show the relationship between points. The progression is generally understandable, but some connections are mechanical or unclear. In the environmental paragraph, the repeated point about greenhouse gases increasing temperatures makes the sequence feel circular, and “It can lead to land reduction” has an unclear reference. The conclusion also repeats the position without drawing together the comparison. To improve, organise each paragraph around a distinct main idea, avoid repeating the same causal link, and use clearer references to show how each consequence follows.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “fuel consumption,” “greenhouse gas emission,” “noise pollution,” “sea levels,” and “unemployment,” so the main ideas are communicated. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “environmental benefits” and “significant impact.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are noticeable, including “comsuming,” “strasprtation,” “envionmental,” and “disadvatahes.” Some collocations are also unnatural: “decline the number of flights” and “increase the environment temperature” do not express the intended meaning naturally. Build accuracy by learning common topic collocations and checking spelling, word forms, and repeated phrases before submitting. More precise vocabulary would make the argument clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mixture of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional clauses such as “if people decide to reduce the number of times they fly” and cause-and-effect sentences beginning “Consequently.” Most sentences remain understandable, and the overall meaning is clear. Some grammatical errors persist, however. The opening has an incorrect article and comparison structure in “the one of the safest and less time consuming type,” while “Huge amount of fuel is needed” needs a plural or an article. There are also agreement and sentence-pattern problems in “the income of air lines reduces” and “leads to decline the quality.” Practise article use, singular/plural agreement, and verb patterns after “lead to.” Greater accuracy in these areas, alongside varied sentence structures, would strengthen the writing.
