Student answer (Band 7.0)
In recent years, the number of flights around the world has been rising dramatically. Some of them are making up their mind to mitigate the amount of airport travel each year or completely cut down their use. I strongly believe, by reducing the number of each one's flight it can lead to a significant environment improvement.
Admittedly, a lots of people travel overseas in order to maintain a certain relationship with their loved ones. Some of them even have a family living living hundreds of miles apart from them, yearning for them every day and night. There are surprising amount of people are actually suffering with this situation, causing thousands of flights. Business, too, can suffer significant setbacks. Industries reliant on international trade often require a face-to-face meetings to keep their work going.
Despite this drawbacks, the use of airplane has a serious harm towards the environment through greenhouse gases, toxic exhaust particles, and heat-trapping condensation trails. If the individuals lessen the number of flight they take in year it would make an immediate ad significant positive change. In order to achieve this, we could change the business meetings overseas into an online meet call if it's not an exceptional one. Also explore your astonishing landscape and culture instead of travelling overseas.
In conclusion, although cutting back on air travel presents genuine difficulties for individual and business partnerships, it reflects a remarkable result in environmental problems which is the most crucial improvement for our life and to more happy future.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that the environmental benefits outweigh the disadvantages. The ideas are relevant, covering both the personal impact (relationships) and business implications, as well as environmental arguments. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the suggestion to replace business meetings with online calls is a good point, but it could be expanded with more detail on why this is effective. The conclusion is clear, though it repeats the prompt's themes rather than synthesizing them. Overall, the response is well-structured and directly answers the question, meeting the requirements for a Band 6.5 or 7.0, but requires more depth to reach higher bands.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The progression of ideas is generally easy to follow. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Admittedly,' 'Despite this,' and 'In conclusion,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing (e.g., 'Some of them' in the first paragraph is slightly ambiguous). Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the disadvantages from the environmental benefits. The flow is consistent, and the structure supports the overall argument effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at more sophisticated language like 'mitigate,' 'setbacks,' and 'condensation trails.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'a lots of people' (should be 'a lot of' or 'many'), 'each one's flight' (awkward phrasing), and 'more happy future' (should be 'happier future'). While the range is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, these errors prevent the response from reaching a higher band. The student demonstrates a good attempt at using topic-specific vocabulary related to the environment and travel.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'Some of them are making up their mind' (incorrect idiom usage), 'living living' (repetition), 'There are surprising amount of people are' (incorrect sentence structure), and 'a face-to-face meetings' (article error). While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication. The student attempts complex structures, but control over them is inconsistent. To improve, the student should focus on subject-verb agreement, article usage, and avoiding repetitive phrasing. The current level reflects a solid attempt at complex grammar despite the persistent errors.
