Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays many people are choosing to reduce air travel or not traveling at all because of air pollution, but how will it effect the individuals and their businesses is another topic, that's on the table.

Firstly, if we put an insight on the causes and effects on the ecosystem than it leads. For instance, their will be less carbon emission and this leads to less air pollution. Furthermore the ozone layer that's already been effected, by taking this step we can limit the damage. In addition, the air is the secondary way for our survival so the former opinion benefits the planet.

On the other hand, it will be a blow on the business industry. Countries will suffer as the decisions that would once get to a result, in such cases would now take days to get to a result and if they choose to travel by cars or if they choose to reduce the travel by air it will still effect the economics. Moreover if we choose to find a way to sort out this issue it would be a great deal.

In conclusion, the planet benefits outweigh the effects that will be faced by individuals and their businesses, as we are living in a era were we can search for alternate ways to get businesses and deals working without interrupting rather than putting our natural world at risk.

Finding a way out is the ultimate solution for this problem because we are the once who can protect the ecosystem.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the environmental benefits and the disadvantages for businesses. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding business impacts are vague, mentioning that decisions 'take days to get to a result' without providing concrete examples or logical depth. The position is clear, but the supporting points lack the necessary detail to fully explore the implications of the topic. The conclusion is somewhat repetitive and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. To improve, you should provide more specific examples of how businesses are affected, such as the impact on international trade or the cost of alternative communication methods.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the logical progression within paragraphs is sometimes weak. For example, the second paragraph starts with 'if we put an insight on the causes', which is an awkward phrasing that obscures the point. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Furthermore', and 'On the other hand', but they are sometimes used mechanically or with grammatical errors. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'the former opinion benefits the planet', which does not clearly refer back to a specific argument. Improving the flow between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'put an insight on' instead of 'examine' or 'look at', and 'effect' used incorrectly as a verb (it should be 'affect'). The phrase 'get to a result' is repetitive and lacks academic tone. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little evidence of less common lexical items or sophisticated collocations. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring correct word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the ozone layer that's already been effected'), incorrect word forms (e.g., 'effect' vs 'affect'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'we are the once who can'). Punctuation is generally functional, but some sentences are run-on or lack clarity. While the meaning is usually understandable, the frequency of errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors would be beneficial.
