Student answer (Band 7.0)
People have decided to reduce the number of times they use air transport
Does environmental benefits of this development outweight disadvantages
Air transportation is the fastest mode of transport that exists taking people over long distances in a short time. While it is beneficial for people as it helps in covering a large distance conveniently and efficiently and also helps businesses gain customer and thrive, it is known to have several negative consequences on the nature. This essay discusses both sides before outlining my perspective regarding the outweighing of advantage over disadvnagea
On the one hand, with the reduction in the number of annual flights taken by individuals, environment witnesses smaller but positive impacts. Firstly, this trend leads to the reduction in number of flights any airlines operate thereby causing exhaustion of less fuel and reduction in the amount of carbon dioxide released to the atmosphere. This also benefits by lessening the strain on natural reserves as demand for fossil fuels are reduced. Not only that, with the reduction in the desire to fly frequently, production of commercial airlines and construction of new airports also slow down thereby mitigating the environmental destructions.
On the another hand, despite environmental benefits being positive, individuals and businesses are widely affected by this trend. Since airlines are used for faster commute reducing the time taken by long distance travels, individuals who choose to avoid more flights voluntarily are themselves affected as other available means of transport are slower in comparison. Moreover, for businesses which operate heavily relying on tourism are hampered with the slowing number of visitors. For example, last year when Madrid placed an limit in the number of incoming flights, businesses such as cafes and gift shops were heavily affected. Therefore, this trend is disadvantageous for both individuals and business owners.
In my personal opinion, I consider this trend to be of long-term environmental benefits, even benefitting businesses which suffer economically. However, faster commute is still important for everyone in case of emergencies such as rescue operations so there is a need for research into alternative fuels which are cleaner and cause less harms to the environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The essay addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have identified both the environmental benefits and the disadvantages for individuals and businesses. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, such as the mention of the tourism industry in Madrid. However, the conclusion is incomplete, as it cuts off abruptly after 'To sum up,'. This prevents a full summary of your argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that your conclusion synthesizes your main points effectively and provides a final thought that reinforces your position. The introduction is also slightly repetitive in its phrasing of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph has a central focus, and you use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Not only that', and 'On the another hand' to link your points. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or grammatically awkward, such as 'On the another hand'. Additionally, the abrupt ending of the essay significantly impacts the coherence of the final section. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your concluding paragraph is fully developed to provide a sense of closure to the reader.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'mitigating', 'environmental destructions', and 'exhaustion of fuel'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'exhaustion of less fuel' (which should be 'consumption of less fuel') and 'cause less harms' (which should be 'cause less harm'). While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that you use nouns and verbs in their correct forms within the context of environmental and economic discussions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'Does environmental benefits... outweight' (should be 'Do the environmental benefits... outweigh'), 'the nature' (should be 'the environment'), and 'placed an limit' (should be 'placed a limit'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement, article usage, and spelling. Proofreading your work for these small, recurring errors would significantly improve your score.
