Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 149 words long. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the essay is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence. While you have identified a clear position and attempted to address both the environmental benefits and the disadvantages, the lack of length means the arguments are not sufficiently extended or supported. To improve, you must ensure you provide a full introduction, two well-developed body paragraphs with specific examples, and a clear conclusion. The current response is too brief to fully address all parts of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, using transition words like 'moreover' and 'however'. However, the progression is interrupted by the incomplete nature of the text. Paragraphing is present but the final paragraph is cut off, which disrupts the overall flow. Cohesive devices are used, but they are sometimes mechanical or incorrectly placed, such as the awkward phrasing in the opening sentences. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by supporting details, leading to a complete, cohesive conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary range is limited and there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation. For example, 'reduce carbon relies' should be 'reduce carbon emissions', and 'the flying throw the planes' is non-standard. There are also spelling errors such as 'gnerally' and 'evnvionmentally'. While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of precision and the repetitive use of basic vocabulary prevent a higher score. You should focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to the environment and transport to improve your ability to express complex ideas accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. There are issues with article usage ('the environmental', 'a individuals'), subject-verb agreement ('It make a certain difficulties'), and sentence structure ('the flying throw the planes are more consume the fuel'). The range of structures is limited, relying mostly on simple sentences. To improve, you should practice using a mix of complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses and conditional sentences, and pay closer attention to basic grammar rules like pluralization and verb forms.
