Student answer (Band 6.0)
Every year millions of people travels through an airplane. However, some people decided to travel less through planes to avoid flights to reduce the environmental pollution. This essay will examine both advantages and disadvantages before reaching a conclusion.
On the one hand, there are many advantages for environment if people reduces to travel through planes. For instance, as people start to refuse to take flight for less distance, the aviation companies will reduce the number of flights for that location. which not only saves the fuel but also reduces the air pollution which causes through flights. Moreover, many countries import fuel from other countries and for those countries the quantity of imported fuel directly affects to their economy. Therefore, the reduction in fuel consumption can benefit to economically.
On the other hand, many industries are directly linked with the aviation industry such as travel industry. So, If the number of travellers decrease, it creates a massive impact on the aviation industry. As the it provides thousands of jobs, many people will lose their jobs. Furthermore, it will also create an impact on tourism as well. Many of hotels and guest houses will be closed. Also the local people who are highly depended on tourism will be impacted negatively.
In conclusion, as aviation industry is linked with many other industries, if people reduces to travel through flights then it will create negative impacts on other industries as well. That is why, I believe that the disadvantages outweighs the advantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both environmental benefits and economic disadvantages. However, the essay is slightly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the arguments. While the position is clear, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the point about fuel imports affecting the economy is mentioned but not fully explained or linked back to the core argument effectively. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more specific examples or logical chains of reasoning to ensure the essay meets the length requirement and provides a more comprehensive analysis.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices like 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' to signal shifts in your argument. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is unclear, such as the sentence fragment 'which not only saves the fuel...'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that sentences are fully connected rather than fragmented will significantly improve the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'aviation industry' and 'travel', and some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'causes through flights' or 'benefited to economically'. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations and synonyms. For example, instead of 'travel through planes', use 'air travel' or 'commercial aviation'. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic and precise terms will help you convey your ideas more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('millions of people travels', 'people reduces to travel') and incorrect preposition usage. Sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. For instance, 'the quantity of imported fuel directly affects to their economy' is grammatically incorrect. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and refining your use of complex sentence structures.
